Item returned to seller has been returned to me.

I was sent an incorrect item via an eBay seller. I raised a returns request, printed off the label, affixed it to the item then posted it. Turns out the item was not accepted when delivered and has now been returned to me. Any idea where I stand?

Escalate the return request to Ebay as soon as Ebay allows you to. You'll be automatically refunded, as tracking only has to prove attempted delivery.

It's possible that the seller moved house, and forgot to change the address in his Ebay account. So send him a message, telling him you have the item back, and that you will be happy to return it as soon as you receive a prepaid postage label from him.  He can easily buy one online, from his chosen carrier, and email it to you. Tell him you will hold the item for 30 days, and that if the postage label is not received within that 30 days, you will dispose of the item as you see fit, as you will be legally entitled to do.
