I bought an exercise bike from a seller with good feedback and received an email that Yodel delivered it on 6/5/20. However I was in all day and it was not delivered. When I checked tracking it says 'unable to sign due to Covid 19'. I tried to contact seller but found they were no longer registered with Ebay and their feedback score was now 45% although I could not look at feedback as it was now private. I have opened a case and have phoned Ebay who said get proof from Yodel that they delivered. I emailed a complaint to Yodel as can't speak to them but have not heard back yet. Does anyone know if I will get my money back from seller and have they had a similar problem? Could seller have been a fraudster? I would like to look at other negative feedback comments but am unable to.
When I checked tracking it says 'unable to sign due to Covid 19'.
That's worrying. Is that all it said? Have you missed out any other wording?
EBay requires the seller to be able to provide tracking evidence that the item was delivered to your address. If they can, they won't have to refund you.
The statement about being unable to sign sounds to me as though Yodel classes it as being delivered. Why would they mention unable to sign if it hadn't even been delivered?
I think you possibly meant to say that eBay said they would need proof from Yodel that it was NOT delivered?
Now you've opened a case with eBay you may as well try to see it through. You can always open a second case with PayPal later (they have a very long, 180 day time limit to open a clain for items not received).
As I said, the worry is that if it's classed as delivered you won't win a case with either eBay or PayPal. You accepted this in the user agreements.
Unfortunately errors can be made in tracking records, and parcels can be left on the doorstep, and stolen (doorstep parcel theft is a growing crime). A lot of buyers have experienced similar problems. Good luck, but this is one of the risks of buying through eBay.
