If I pay for a horse trailer with cash upon collection, am I protected if it's not road worthy?

HI,  If I buy a horse trailer and pay for it with cash on collection, am I covered incase the trailer is faulty?  Should I take someone with me to check it over before I bid or should I take someone with me to check it over when I collect it and before I hand over the cash?  Thanks, hope someone can help me asap

you wouldn't be protected even if you paid with paypal

you need to make sure it is as described and roadworthy BEFORE you hand over the money,

so you need to take someone with you who can do this.
