I bought a NEW HP printer as a christmas present for my daughter, when she tried to use it her laptop gave a message 'printer not recognised'.
I then downloaded the manufacturer software package and tried to print. It didn't print in colour and didn't print selected pages.
E Bay advise they would contact me when the seller responded, nothing happened, I kept sending emails to seller all to no avail until I was advised by E Bay that the case was closed.
How does this happen and is it legal?
I feel as though I have been robbed.
Ebay provides all the tools you need, but you have to use them, and use them as clearly instructed. You can't blame Ebay if you fail to do that. The case instructions told you what to do if the seller didn't respond by a given date, which was to escalate the case to Ebay. You didn't do that, so the system naturally 'assumed' your issue had been resolved, and auto-closed the case after 30 days. If you'd escalated the case to Ebay as instructed, Ebay would have either auto-supplied you with a returns label at the seller's expense, or auto-refunded you in full without the need for return.
But all is not lost. You have 180 days from purchase date in which to open a case in PayPal, and most card providers offer a similar timeframe. Make sure you follow the case instructions to the letter this time!
I assume yo bought it before Christmas so you eBay 30 Day claim would expire just before 25th Jan.
Your claim should now directed at PayPal.
You have to escalate to ebay within 30 days of opening case, if not they assume you have sorted with seller & close case.
No point trying to keep contacting seller, you can escalate case 3 working days after opening.
You could try opening paypal case, but will have to pay return postage, escalate after 2 days.
