I'm having trouble filtering out non UK sellers.

I looked at an item that is "in Portsmouth" yet the delivery time is between 2.5 - 3 weeks.

How is this possible? I messaged the seller for an explanation and merely got "yes you can buy it soon".

I'm guessing the item isn't in UK at all but without clicking on each item in the search to check the delivery times how do I filter these out? This is really frustrating.

Also. Does anyone know who actually puts the tracking info into Hermes? I've another item that claimed to be in Halifax yet has been in Sheffield since 19th May. Is the seller able to manipulate tracking data? It just says "in transit". The tracking info in ebay does not match the tracking info at Hermes. This is also frustrating.

the search criteria is for ITEM location

you cannot filter for seller location

sellers who have a UK distribution point can state UK as the item location as the item is sent there first and then to the buyer

if you wish to avoid buying from these sellers you need to check the seller location before you buy,

to see the seller location go to their feedback profile page by clicking on the number in breackets next to their ID,

you should be looking at a sellers feedback profile before you buy anything, as that is what feedback is for, to be read before purchase so that you can decide whether you want to buy from that person.

if an item location is stated as UK and the item is sent directly to you, without going to the UK distribution point, you can report the seller for item location misrepresentation:-

I buy a lot of consumables so that's a lengthy process for me. But your explanation does go a long way to explaining why an item "in the UK" can take so long to deliver (I thank you and have sent the text of your reply to a few friends who are also frustrated by this). As a criticism of ebay then I don't really see the point of selecting UK only if it merely means that the UK is the last place it "touches down" before it comes to your house.

the filter helps narrow down the search, you then have to check things like delivery times and seller location,

you should always look at a sellers feedback profile page before buying,

as that is what feedback is for,

so it doesn't add any more time to the buying process.

Must admit too many items say UK etc and then tracking numbers are not relevent .. I am spending more over on Amazon . Ebay has got worse over the years .

Yeah. Amazon is a bit more expensive but at least they have warehouses here. Everything I order on Ebay now has delivery times well over 1 week. I don't see the point having a "UK only" option which only means the item has to "touchdown" somewhere before being delivered to your address. Ebay just doesn't seem to care. It's almost as though it is being run by the Chinese themselves.
