I requested to return an item last week. Ebay's estimate for postage was £8.00 so I went ahead and printed labels for the parcel. When I got to the Post Office, however, the charge would have been £26.00! In this case I cancelled the Royal Mail return and arranged for Hermes to collect and deliver for the sum of £12.00. The parcel was collected today. I have since discovered that, according to Ebay, I cannot now return the item! This has annoyed me greatly and I am frustrated because there seems to be no way of contacting Ebay directly and they will not allow me to cannot the seller to explain the situation.
WHAT CAN I DO?
Never accept Ebays recommendations for postage, they are often inaccurate. You need to weigh the item when packed, then look up the price on the RM website, or check the cost of couriers.
You say Ebay will not allow you to contact the seller, I don't understand why. There is a link to contact seller beside the item in your purchase history.
Ebay's Returns are very precise. You have to stick to the exact timelines and instructions. By not doing so you have lost the ability to Receive a Refund through the EBay Money Back Guarantee.
If this is an Item Not As Described Case you can try opening a Case with PayPal. Find Resolve a Problem down the left hand side. Add your Hermes Tracking Number. Escalate the Case after 2 days but before 20.
