How to hide search suggestions on search bar?

It used to appear an option on the bottom of the suggestions list to hide them, but its gone.

I noticed this as well, it is very annoying. I contact ebay via chat to report this and it took a while for them to understand the issue as they were unaware of the option to do this. However I did manage to send them a link to an image of the search box showing the orange hide suggestions button.

They did tell me they would pass it on to their technical teams to investigate, but I am not confident it will be fixed. When I have reported previous issues with the site they have remained unresolved.

I would suggest if more people report it via chat it may help getting it fixed. If you want to report it go to help and support, type in technical issues in the how can we help you box and a link to what to do if you are having technical issues will  and appear. Click on this and scroll to the bottom of the page, then click on need more help -chat.

any luck with this problem yet? this just started happening to me yesterday.

they have changed how to stop suggested searches twice that i recall in the last 20 years, and now AGAIN.

somethings they should just leave alone - or ask people who actually use the site, not techs paid to 'enhance'.

As I suspected in my original post this issue has not been fixed- which does not surprise me, eBay do not seem to listen very often and I do not think those who design and maintain the site understand how people use the site to search for items.

Nothing really changes, every time eBay update the site or make "improvements" something seems to be removed or stop working which makes using the site more difficult. I have lost count of the number of times this has happened over the years.

I've been having this problem for over a week now and is really frustrating as I always used this for my searches. I have reported it several times through the feedback box on the main eBay pages but the Hide eBay suggestions box is still not working. As a result of this I am not searching for as many things as it now takes much longer having to search for tems I'm looking for. I will use the chat function and hopefully this will soon be resolved.

I have had the problem of the main ebay search bar turning to a black background from light grey. I also noticed a small  orange rectangle behind or over the word All in the 'All Catogries' box.  I clicked on it and have lost the items suggestions I usualy search for and am left with the ebay suggested searches- no sign of the small orange rectangle to cllick back.
