Ebay rarely side with the seller for not-as-described. As you've provided no useful details, I can only guess at the reason: You were out of time to open a case or return request that you could escalate to Ebay, or you opened a return request for the wrong reason, or you failed to follow the case or return request instructions, or you opened a case for item-not-received by mistake. Which of these was it...?
Private sellers do not have to accept change-of mind returns, which is why the return request automatically closed.
The not-as-described option is definitely on the list you're presented with when you open a return request, so I'm not sure how you missed it. But as you did, all you can do now is open a case with PayPal or wth your card provider. Ebay can't help you unless you properly use the tools they supply.
