Delivery note posted through letterbox, but parcel is missing

Yesterday I arrived home to find a delivery note through my letterbox saying that the delivery company (Yodel) had left the package on my doorstep. There was no parcel on my doorstep or with my neighbours. I contacted the seller regarding this as the package I ordered from them was tracked on Ebay and sent them a photo of the delivery note. They confirmed that the package had been delivered, but I cannot find it. The seller has stated that if I think the package is missing, I should raise this with Ebay to request a refund. However, I do not know how to do this as the tracking information on Ebay states that it has been delivered, so I cannot raise a claim for a missing item.

Thank you.

I cannot raise a claim for a missing item.

You can open an item not received case, through the resolution centre, but you won't win it if the tracking number confirms that it was delivered.

Unfortunately this happens all too often. Postmen and couriers often leave parcels with neighbours, or in a “safe place” outside the property, where they may be lost or stolen. Theft of parcels left on doorsteps has soared in the last few years.

EBay can't and doesn't attempt to investigate deliveries. When delivery is disputed, eBay decides the case according to its money back guarantee policy.

The seller is required to provide a tracking number, which eBay will check on Royal Mail or the courier's web site. If the item is shown as undelivered, the seller is required to refund the buyer. If it confirms delivery to the buyer's address, the seller has done all that they're required to do, and the case is closed. Both you and the seller have accepted this policy as part of the user agreement.

I'm afraid that you're just the latest of many buyers to find themselves in this situation. This is just one of the risks of buying through eBay.

There is no case you can open, seller has sent by tracked method which shows as delivered. Seller is wrong Ebay will accept tracked delivery, the missing package needs to be taken up with Yodel, leaving on a doorstep to be stolen is irresponsible , and they should be made accountable, but I suspect that will not happen.

There is no point in paying for tracked delivery if it is not acepted by ebay as Proof of Delivery.
