Buying within a certain radius

How do I set up ebay to search within a certain radius of my home?  I've tried but it doesn't seem to save.  Also can I set up alerts if an item I'm after comes up in my area?

You can use a saved search to alert you when the item is listed within a certain radius of where you live (you will have to select the radius on the search, and once you have selected it, click save search (it will have a heart symbol next to it)

the location setting for the saved search will be saved, but not for anything else, and to view the saved search with the location settings intact you will have to go to the saved searches page
