items selling for less than price listed

Hi all,

Anyone else experiencing items selling for less than the price listed on buy it nows.

For instance just tonight i have had 3 items sell for £3.41 when the buy it now price is £3.59?

I have auto offers set to off and have double checked this. Also wiered thing is when you click on the order itself it doesn't show a discount has been applied it just shows its sold for the lower value. This has been happening for a little while now across my listings but i just assumed it was a glitch but it seems to be happening more often now.

This has been happening to me as well and at first thought I had sent an offer to watcher and forgotten about it but not so sure now. It's usually around 50p to £1 discount that's taken of the sale price and not on every sale either just random sales about 2-3 a month.

That's a 5% discount.

On two of your £3.59 items, you do have it set to give a 5% discount if you buy 2 items.

Were the relevant items included in this offer?

As for discounts, they don't seem to show up reliably on eBay at all, especially in the first hour after the sale.  The display does generally "catch up" in time, but at the actual time of sale, it's hard to see what the item sold for and why.

Re: items selling for less than price listed

The buyers are only purchasing 1 item so wouldn't be eligible for the discount.

I have 3 accounts on ebay and i have just received an offer from one of my accounts for a 5% discount. I have just gone onto said account and auto offers is set to off so ebay are sending out offers to buyers without my permission.

Not sure how i stop this but it is happening across all 3 of my accounts so its not an isolated issue.

Re: items selling for less than price listed

Double check you are not sending automatic offers at this link ...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sh/lst/active?offers=automatedOffers&source=filterbar&action=search

It's just a shortcut to Listings > Filter by > Offers > Offers Sending Automatically

You can then use the arrow beside 'Edit' on each item and click 'View Offer Settings' to remove/edit automatic offers

This also caught me out a while back and loads of listings were selling way under buy it now price

Re: items selling for less than price listed

I, too, found offers being sent automatically (a year or two ago).  I realised it happened because I'd used the app to send some offers out to watchers.  The app was set to automatically do it and I couldn't find a way to stop it 😠

Consequently, I now NEVER use the app to send offers.  (Perhaps the app has changed how it works now, but I've not risked using it since).

I guess this may be why the OP and others have encountered this issue.

Re: items selling for less than price listed

There is a little button toggle when you send an offer to automatically do it on future offers, it's quite easy to miss, and as long as you have this off the next time you do it, it WILL remember your decision and stop automatically doing it.

It is a useful tool, but it caught me out too many times when I was automatically giving a price of £X and INCREASED the listing price to £Y (volatile product market), meaning £X was suddenly WAY under profit margins, so I try not to use it as much and do things manually. If you have non-volitile products with straightforward pricing I bet it's a great tool.
