eBay Open UK 2025, Is it worth joiing ?

I am a relatively new seller on eBay.

Has any experienced seller been to eBay Open? It is a long travel, and I wonder if it is worth joining.

Thanks.

Yes, it can be worth going to.

But it is more to do with the networking that you can get out of it, rather than the presentations.

You also get the opportunity for a one to one with a member of staff.
At the end of the day though, it's a nice to do, but it is far from a need to do!
If you can spare the time and you haven't been, then I would recommend that you do.

As mentioned go and be a sponge, if you're new then I'd say 50% of the things they say you might not know, book a one to one when its available and they will check your account and point out any obvious issues which we all miss. Also take a list of questions you want answering, doesnt matter if its about posting, fee's, promo or returns, theres 'experts' from each department you can just go up and ask.

There might be a seller manager or account manager from your category, have a chat with them, ask if there are any promos coming up in the next quarter or what not, worst thing they can say is no best they can get your email and put you for them.

I've learnt more from other sellers there than from eBay staff but I've also got email addresses for eBay staff so if theres an issue I can now escalate a lot quicker. I'd love eBay to actually move it around, certain parts of the UK are just forgotten about even with roadshows, theres no reason why the Open event should be in Birmingham for 2 years in a row.

Well to be fair to Ebay, Birmingham is pretty central for the UK entire.
So where would you have them put it instead?  London?  Edinburgh?

So sure, it's nice to have it close to you, but by moving it closer to the ends of the country, you are virtually guaranteeing that someone is going have a 5/6 hour plus drive to get to it!
At least if it's central, the maximum anyone should have will be no more than 3/4 hours.

The roadshows however do move around, we had one in Liverpool this year, which is the first for a while.
But no matter what they do, they can't cover the entire country, unless they start doing one a week!

As it was in Birmingham last year this one could be in Scotland, if you're driving from Edinburgh its a 5.5 hour drive, god forbid you are driving from anything further north. Birmingham really isn't central for the UK, it could be central for England and Wales but that's it. If this was the first Open event I'd say good idea having it in Birmingham but theres been Manchester and Birmingham that I know of, neither are very good for North East England or Scotland bar Glasgow. They'll never win with everyone but currently they are only ever winning with people close to Birmingham, many sellers arent.

The roadshows havent done the North East of England for 4 or 5 years, last year you had to drive 2/3 hours plus to get to one, which isnt really worth it when the day last 5 or 6 hours, you're travelling for the same amount of time as the show.

You will not make any money on Ebay. Between  the scammers and Ebay you will get ripped off.

Birmingham may be close to the centre of England, but it's nowhere near the centre of the UK.
