Well ebay has just given me the best laugh I've had in weeks. I think they are beginning to panic.

As a long-standing and valued eBay business seller, you’ve been selected to participate in our free eBay Account Assurance programme, starting in 7 January 2025 for 6 months.

should we be worried?

25 years plus  with multiple ids

The only account  issues we have 

encountered were with illogical and obscure banned items

Are ebay going to be stricter do they intend to enforce something were not aware of 

after 25 years why do. We  suddenly need  6 months special care

GPSR .. yes I had this to but ive excluded everything thats not antique and everything that is ive put the date in item specifics so im hoping its all ok ????

Ineresting article that links was on the BBC website yesterday "Online sellers urged to prepare for sea border change"

Ebay said "We are supporting sellers as much as we can to understand and comply with this complex regulation.

"For several months we have had GPSR fields and functionalities live to allow sellers to add required information to their listings, we have been communicating with them since June, engaged with them through forums such as eBay Open and our seller council, and are providing sellers with partners to help them get compliant.”

Had the message from ebay today as well. All of this should be standard anyway.

Makes me laugh when they bang on about ebay policy when the saga of businesses trading on private accounts continues to get totally out of control, this obviously goes against ebay policy but who cares ?

I got it too. It’s optional to opt in though so was quickly deleted….!

I assume they don’t like that I removed EU & NI as shipping options but I had no choice as they wouldn’t let me list otherwise.

I’m also part of the expressions panel. They asked in February how I’d prepare my business for the new GPSR regulations coming into force in December to which I replied “I will remove EU & NI from my shipping options”. Flippant but honest.
Far too complex for a very small part-time online business that sells 95% to GB anyway!

The thing that really made me laugh is I won't be here in January. Nothing will make me stay, no stupid policy protection that is not necessary or needed.

Ebay doesn't value either aspect as has been shown recently when they threw the vast majority of business sellers under the bus during what is supposed to be the busiest trading period for many ebay business sellers.

we will be  done and dusted  with ebay

cutting  the cord concentring our efforts on other venues

Ebay have over complicated every aspect of this site............. i thought concentrating on selling could be a good idea.

…….Or actually getting more buyers interested in using eBay.

Plenty of ads on TV for “it’s now free to sell” but not much good if no one is actually here looking (and those that are can’t see your ads because eBay hide them in favour of someone willing to give all their money away in promotional costs!).

I was even more fortunate to get a physical letter today, telling me I can elevate my sales with an amount of funding. Wether it’s stocking up ( I have a mountain to move already but isn’t), increasing market spend ( PL no thanks) or managing cash flow ( if I haven’t got the cash I don’t spend)……..simples…

Randomly after 14 years account gets restricted and 2 hours later i get this email!
