Why is it asking me to complete my listings on the web browser to apply policies when it's correct.

When I tried to update or list a new item on the mobile device it just keeps asking me

So have you done as it's saying?

Complete you listing on a web browser and apply your policies?

But I don't understand what they want me to do as they don't give a specific reason as to what I need to do it's really frustrating.

I've updated everything that they asked and I've completed my listings on there but this never used to occur only until I did the update

There is something on Business policies in the Ebay support chat (can't remember what it is called) today. I thought it was just relating to Simple delivery and business Postage policies, but it sounds like all polices can only be carried out on the web looking at the message you got.

I got this message today, no idea what I am supposed to do to solve it, apart from stop using the app.

You must not have all your policies applied correctly.

There are three different policies.  Have you made sure that they are all applied?

ie. Postage, payment and return.

These must be set.

Re: Why is it asking me to complete my listings on the web browser to apply policies when it's corre

The reason this has just started happening (albeit prematurely) can be found here: Simple Delivery | UK Seller Centre.

One of the FAQs states:

"Can I still use business policies?
Starting 7 April, certain features on the eBay app will no longer be supported. This includes business policies, the ability to set a handling time of more than 3 days, adding a custom SKU, subtitle, and Global Trade Item Number, and using the Gallery Plus feature.

You’ll still be able to use business policies when listing through your web browser, but if you’d prefer to list using the app, you can disable business policies in My eBay. The policies set on your existing listings will not be affected."

So, going forward, private sellers won't be able to list using Business Policies on the app (except, maybe, for items which are exempt from Simple Delivery? - I'm unsure on that).

Well thank you for such a detailed explanation! And so if I opt out of business policies then it should be okay?   If I opt out of business sales then would that impact my current eBay views also? I reckon eBay just keep messing around too much and it's driving people away to be honest it's just more and more frustrating.

Re: Why is it asking me to complete my listings on the web browser to apply policies when it's corre

If you opt out of business policies then you should be able to list using the app, you'd just set everything each time on the listing form rather than applying a pre-saved policy. It won't affect listing visibility.

Changing the subject, have you tried to get that negative removed? The buyer is complaining that you didn't provide tracking but your listing clearly stated postage was by standard 2nd Class, untracked. Feedback policy is here Feedback policy | eBay - I would certainly be requesting removal under the reason

  • "The buyer is raising an issue that was correctly disclosed in the listing"

ie, an untracked postage service.

Re: Why is it asking me to complete my listings on the web browser to apply policies when it's corre

Hi, I've had this same message when trying to list new items, or revise existing items and I've gone into my eBay Account settings and Business Policies and then if I select Opt out of business policies it says "Any business policies you've created will be permanently deleted", so if do this and I'm then able to list and make changes to existing listing using the app again, what about all the business policies which will then be deleted?? I don't see how I can go back to using the app again?

Well spotted, I hadn't realised that it wasn't a business seller!

Re: Why is it asking me to complete my listings on the web browser to apply policies when it's corre

It would seem strange to have to delete 2 pages of business policies after selling for 20+ years on eBay, only to be able to use the eBay app again to list or revise items.  A l of my business policies are the different postage options like 1st, 2nd, Special, etc, returns policy, eBay Payments policy, immediate pay, etc, etc.  If I delete all the business policies, then it should affect all the listings that I currently have right, but if I create a new listing on the app, then I have to mess around selecting all the policies for that individual listing from scratch, so the postage, returns, collection, immediate pay, etc etc etc?

Re: Why is it asking me to complete my listings on the web browser to apply policies when it's corre

Apparently "Business Policies" are not just for Business sellers, but also Private Sellers.  The topic is more about how can we go back to using the app for listing and revising items?  At the moment this message is diverting us off the app onto a web browser.  If we opt out of business policies, then it will delete all postage options, returns info, collections, immediate payment etc etc from our polices that we've had working normally for years and years

In short, you can't. If you want to list on the app then you can't use Business Policies any more.

If you opt out of Business Policies then all policies will be deleted but active listings will keep the postage, returns etc that you assigned through Business Policies. But you will have to set these things on the listing form for each new listing going forward.

So, basically, your options are -

1. Opt out of Business Policies and continue to list using the app.

2. Keep Business Policies and list on the web browser.

Re: Why is it asking me to complete my listings on the web browser to apply policies when it's corre

I also have run into this issue, I have just deleted the business policies and recreated them and reapplied them all on the web browser to my drafts just to still have the same message so i googled the message to find this thread, seems like a complete mess by eBay with the app, it is not being explained at all well - i don't really understand what i am being asked to do ?

Re: Why is it asking me to complete my listings on the web browser to apply policies when it's corre

You can't list on the app any more if you use Business Policies. The only way to submit your listings using the app is to opt out of Business Policies. Unless you opt out, you'll only be able to submit your drafts using the web browser.

Re: Why is it asking me to complete my listings on the web browser to apply policies when it's corre

Not that it applies to me as I'm not a business seller but does this bizzare new policy regarding the app and business policies apply to those that are registered as business sellers or is it limited to those registered as private sellers
