What's Evri like these days?

Hello,

Just getting back into selling again after a few years.

I was wondering if Evri is a good courier to use?

Which courier do you use?

Best wishes

Re: What's Evri like these days?

The problem with Evri is twofold. First of all their inconsistency. It very much depends on the driver. Some of them are good. a lot of them are terrible. Secondly shen things go wrong either you or your customer will want to contact them. 2-3days for a reply is the norm.

They are cheap but I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole for my business parcels. I use DX and they are spot on. Similar pricing to DHL/DPD and a significantly better service than both.

Things have changed here for sellers and delivery is proving problematic at times, mostly owing to the mandatory Simple Delivery

Re: What's Evri like these days?

Good question, and you're going to get some very fiery (negative🤔 ) responses regarding Evri, I'm sure!

Personally,  and from reading the many,  Many, posts here re Evri ,  as a courier it boils down to who actually is the Evri delivery person in your area!  This of course is totally out of a seller's control.

For me,  I have a brilliant Evri lady.  She's polite,  always on time and I receive more updates and messages from her than from my children!  🤗  She keeps me fully updated on the progress of my items, and as said always, delivers promptly.

Unfortunately,  my lady  cannot been cloned by Evri,  and you'll hear the most awful instances of how and where items have been carelessly delivered by other Evri delivery peeps.

Your profile page is not showing for me,  but are you a Private seller?   Simple Delivery is now mandatory for Private sellers.

If  you are, then on top of the above, it may be best to delete Evri as a postal option, because it causes issues for members buying from the Chan. Isles and N. Ireland,  also adds excessive high courier charges to those places,  where RM will charge the same price, all over the UK.

If you have returned to selling,  worth catching up on how Simple Delivery works,  it's very different to what you may have been used to ! 🤗

Re: What's Evri like these days?

Personally.

As a buyer - I have no issues - our Evri driver is great, they don't leave parcels in view of the front door etc. Speed wise I don't tend to pay as much attention to, but everything is delivered. Royal Mail personally seem slower at the moment

As a seller - I sell here and on Vinted and on Vinted, where the customer can choose from an array of delivery options, they almost always choose Evri. Never had a parcel go missing.

Re: What's Evri like these days?

I use Evri for probably 90% of my orders unless its a particularly valuable order or outside of their size / weight parameters, I rarely experience a problem with them to be honest, good tracking with photos and google maps location and it's convenient for me to drop them off at the co-op in the next village and also use their printer and ink to print the labels!

As someone else mentioned they do like to charge excessively for NI etc so those usually go via the post office instead

What I will say is when you DO have a problem customer service and trying to actually get in touch with them is terrible so maybe weigh that up against the value of the goods you are sending and the amount of parcels you are likely to be sending

Re: What's Evri like these days?

Local Evri team are really good for me as a buyer, as a seller I won’t touch them. Switched them off on the ‘other’ site.

Their Ezra bot is useless. Counting the issues up over the summer months,  lost 6 parcels, taken over 3 weeks to deliver 5 parcels. Thankfully my buyers have been understanding and had similar problems themselves.
Found a customer email direct contact address last week, amazingly they responded and had a couple of resolutions on 2 items.

Re: What's Evri like these days?

I switched from RM to EVRI at the start of last year after getting fed up of RM losing parcels, their international service collapsed, the random charges on their invoices, delays and a lack of payment for missing item claims. I now use EVRi direct with E-bay for UK orders and EVRI international for most parcels abroad. I can tell you now they have been much better than RM on all fronts. Packlinks claim process through E-bay is good, their tracking is good and they are generally reliable. Sure, I have had some issues or non-deliveries, but probably less than half of those I had with RM and if they lose a parcel at least they pay their claims.

Re: What's Evri like these days?

As a buyer my experience of Evri has been awful so I don’t use them. Contacting them is a nightmare as their AI customer service just took me round in circles. Evri is rated the worst courier in the country, but it will come down to personal experience. If you’re a private seller your choices will be limited and you will need to understand what really isn’t a ‘simple’ service.

Re: What's Evri like these days?

At least with Simple Delivery its eBay you are dealing with and not Evri, not saying eBays customer service is much better though. Saying that I refuse to purchase anything that uses Evri, I don't know when I'm at home so I get everything delivered to  storage facility, somehow even though theres a huge building with a sign at least 20ft by 7ft visible from the main road and perfectly easy to locate using any gps service the local driver claims they can not locate the building.

As others have said you get what you pay for, its basic delivery with very basic service, if nothing goes wrong you're fine but 1 issue and you are fighting AI that doesnt want to help.

Re: What's Evri like these days?

I used EVRI & UPS for a few years, buying from Packlink via eBay

Evri loose parcels with alarming regularity at least 3% , you will waste time appeasing angry Customers, sending emails and making claims to Packlink

You don't get voted worst Courier 3 years in a row for nothing !

UPS better service, but then a few weeks later you will get an email informing you that there are some extra charges this can be up to £15 per parcel

Simple solution open a Royal Mail Account not only do they collect but its cheaper, more reliable and no additional costs, I am so impressed been using them for three months and wouldn't use anyone else

Re: What's Evri like these days?

Evri seems to have a reputation that's - choose one - (A) poor (B) very poor (C) crazy poor. If you're one of those sellers who state which courier in a listing or under Postage when a buyer clicks Contact Seller, it's possible a buyer won't order but choose a seller who doesn't use Evri, but of course you wouldn't notice if that happens.

In these discussion boards I once read at least one or two posts by people who said that if they learn the courier will be [name] they cancel the order.

Obviously you should choose the courier(s) that suits you the seller, but I feel it's possibly worth mentioning that some buyers have strong feelings about particular couriers, so I don't know how that might affect orders or if that's a consideration for you. Maybe a buyer's had a particular courier leave too many items in their hedge.

I've had Evri once leave an eBay parcel in the coal bunker so it was filthy, annoying as I was in at the time but no one knocked at the front door. I don't mind Evri generally though as they're fine when used by other websites [small businesses], but here if it's Evri I can't help feeling a little anxious until I get delivery. If an option other than Evri is offered at check-out I usually take it, and am happy to pay for upgraded/faster delivery (it's usually Royal Mail) especially if the item's fairly high in value, thus saving me some anxiety with the bonus of faster delivery.

Re: What's Evri like these days?

I'm a small private seller so I have to use Simples Delivery - the choice is RM or Evri + more recently DHL (I think!).

I prefer RM - seldom had any problems with them.  I would prefer to be able to use Evri for larger than Small Parcel size but with Simples Delivery you either choose one or the other or both in which case eBay decides which label they choose for my parcel.  I only want to use Evri when I choose, not eBay.  It is not as convenient for me whereas RM is as the PO is on the way to/from work.

I find my RM items are delivered within 48 hrs.  I can't comment on Evri as it's more than 6 months since I used them to send anything.  I am fortunate that my Evri driver is a good'un.  When I am out I leave my storm door slightly ajar and he opens it, places the parcel next to the inner locked door, and the storm door is left in the same way.  The Postie does the same thing.

When purchasing from eBay I seldom have any problems with Evri or RM.  Most times purchasing from Vin^ted I choose Evri C&C (RM seldom offered) as I don't like Inpost as collection is restricted to 3 days.

Re: What's Evri like these days?

I use Evri all the time, and never have a problem. All couriers *bleep*-up from time to time, but my personal experience is that Evri is no worse than any other, and their prices are good, which if you offer 'free postage' as I do, that makes a difference.
