In all honesty, looking at what your selling, I'm not really that surprised.

People are simply not spending as much, the belts are tightening.
They are not spending money on things that are "nice to have", rather than "need to have".
Spending has been down for the country for the last two months running, so it's likely that if we get again, it will officially be a recession.
Along with the fact that the weather has been crazy these last few weeks, with a lot more people out and about I would imagine.

And it's not just here, but on other sites as well.

Very true. Another economic contraction and its a recession but myself and my accountant agree we are already in a recession its just the government fiddling the numbers so to speak. Plus inflation is increasing. People just aren't spending and they may have summer holidays to pay for with their kids so will be saving for that. Spoke to someone the other who had booked a villa in spain for their family holiday but hadnt booked their flights. She went to book the flights and they are asking £3800 for 6 return flights! Nuts. Its so expensive to eat out and even just buy ice creams where I live here in north wales so people are prioritising spending like you say. This is the worst year I've had for sales on all platforms in all 25 years of being in business and thats including the credit crunch!

Personally my sales last weekend were amazing - July - Sept are usually quiet for me so lovely to get so many. I would add that Ive not paid for ads for months - Im purely organic impressions.  I do think if you are paying ads on 1500 listings (now with the new settings that youre paying on all regardless) you are paying alot of money for nothing - If you remove them they will drop for about a month then recover organically so while its quiet it maybe worth switching them off and hold fast for a month

It's a known fact that in general, not all but most sellers are seeing a massive drop in sales.
for me the last 7 days ive made what I normally make in 1 day and summer is generally a lot busier.

i dropped PL around 3 weeks ago and refuse to use them again unless ebay removes the stupid policy the have applied.
Closing the shop in around 10 days while away and seriously considering not bothering to open it back up and concentrate on other platforms.

Hang on, how exactly is it a known fact?

There are no current figures from Ebay to back that up.

As far as I'm aware, all you have, is hearsay.

Or if you do have some evidence of this, then please provide it?

I don't dispute that the country as a whole is struggling, but I hate these sweeping statements that really don't mean anything unless you can prove it.
And constantly repeating this kind of thing, is not good for anyone.

This week has been quiet (which for me is the norm as we get into summer hols and schools are off) but last weeked was SO busy so Im not sure "It's a known fact that in general, not all but most sellers are seeing a massive drop in sales" - Unfortunately we jump on the forums when we are quiet and read like minded posts to get comfort that we are not alone however no one jumps on to say how busy they are so we surmise that everyone must be quiet

Dropping off PLs will definitely be a factor and in my experience when I switched them off it took about a month to get organic impressions back - unfortunately if you are switching off for hols that will impact your listings and you will come back after 10 days
