VAT on global shipping

We need more feedback from E bay on this as due to E bay deducting the VAT from the payment made to us we have had to stop using the Global shipping service. as a result of this we are now not able to ship to B to C  buyers in the EU. As E bay are the shipper we are not able to sell net of VAT as we are delivering the goods to a UK address.

VAT on global shipping

This sounds like a key issue. Have you raised it with eBay - either directly or during the Wednesday Chat with the eBay Team?

That doesn’t matter.  Your VAT obligations are determined by the location of the buyer (i.e. the delivery address specified by the buyer) not the intermediary address that you are shipping to.

  1. When shipping through the Global Shipping Programme into the EU:
    • Where eBay is responsible for remitting VAT (up to a consignment value of EUR 150), VAT will be collected from the buyer directly on behalf of eBay
    • Where eBay is not responsible for VAT (with a consignment value over EUR 150 excluding France), either Pitney Bowes or the Carrier will continue to clear goods into the EU on behalf of the buyer. Import VAT and duty will be colleced from the buyer based on the delivery country and the value of the goods and the carrier or broker will be responsible for clearing the goods through Customs on behalf of the buyer
    • For VAT-registered sellers, shipments between the UK and EU are considered export sales. In these cases, eBay will remit the net amount to the seller
