I set up a sale my first sale event last night to start immediately with a 10 percent discount and selected the Art Category, basically all my items and the square box to tick shows 222 to select, half of which have been listed for more than 14 days going on for a month and they have not been included in any other sales. The sale shows as active in the dashboard since last night, but no items are showing in the sale. Is this normal. Any ideas?

There are various things that need to have been stable within a listing for at least 14 days prior to being included in a sale. Changes to price or postage policy are classics that throw items out of being sale eligible.
Have you done any listing tweaking?

I have not made any changes to the listings, postage or anything. However I have been reviewing the edit history for some listings to check and they all have random dated and timed edits to the: Payment Terms, Actual postage, Shop category.
I have not made any of these changes what ever they are, some appear to have been made when I was in bed around the 2nd and 3rd October. I looked at one listing that has two edits made yesterday 11 Oct, 2024 17:17:47 BST to Payment Terms and Actual postage. I certainly did do that or even look at the listing because I was on a train at that time binging items back from a auction house. There is no change to the postage as it is still showing as Free Royal Mail Tracked 48.
I suppose I will now have to start a new thread: Random Unauthorized Edits to Listings????

Relisted items automatically will affect the time scale - have ebay added simple delivery ?

The ones with unathorized edits made on the 11th Oct at times when I was not here to make any edits, were listed on the 29th of September, so too soon for automatic re-listing. I have no idea about Simple Delivery but can not find that option in my postage settings or listings anywhere. I don't use drop and collect or GSP. I won't be using Simple Delivery ether. If they plan letting EVRI (or EVIL as I know them) get there hands on my parcel they have no chance, its not happening, ever.
I have started a new thread on the technical issues forum to address the unauthorized edits: https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Technical-Issues/Random-Unauthorized-Edits-to-Listings/td-p/7692989/...

No you are not eligible for simple delivery it is for private sellers only and is currently being rolled out - so far for clothing only - it is where the customer chooses delivery option and pays on the sellers behalf - they can opt out - and for your artwork - you need full control !

I cannot remember all the countries I originally excluded, but I have not changed any of them for a long time. The shipping shows no changes on the listings. I don't think changes in PayPal credit terms would be considered a listing edit. Also, the times and days of the unauthorized listing edits appear completely random and spaced out. If eBay were editing listings en masse, surely they would all change at the same time.

The only other thing I can think of is that ebay update revisions daily .
By default, revisions occur daily to update any changes you’ve made throughout the day so the time of the changes may be innaccurate .
Have you updated your terms and conditions
Of course it could be a glitch
I can't see anything that triggers visible signs of hacking - but maybe change passwords if you suspect anything.
The changes are specific to actual postage or payment terms so unless you added click and collect or something
ebay did update click and collect payment terms recently eliminating cash on collection - is that in force now ? and if so when were the updates ? Would an ebay update like this spark a 'change to listing' ?

I do not add the parcel weight and dimensions into the listing template, I set my own postage costs per item when listing.

eBay have altered their own terms and conditions recently - for instance, they have now forbidden cash on collection (except for motors). When doing a bulk edit or relist, this shows up as a change to EVERY individual item - as if I have altered my business policies. I think this may be the problem.
I also set up a "sale event" this week, for a few hundred items, and I know it was working, because I had messages about the reduced prices from buyers. But yesterday, when I looked at the items, the reduced prices had gone, and when I looked at the "sale event" details, it showed as sale active, but zero listings.
I think the changes made by eBay have scuppered my sale. If they are registering all my items as having been changed by me, then I'll have to wait a month before they become "eligible for the sale".

I think that could possibly be the reason for the unauthorised edits because all my listings had cash on collection along with managed payments. I am not sure when they made the change as I have not looked into it, my unauthorised edits seem to be around the 2-3rd and the 11th October. I will just keep an eye on future unauthorised edits. Some of those edits should time out of the 14 day limit in several days so hopefully they will gradually populate into the sale event.
Looks like another typicall badly implemented change by eBay... When do they ever make a change that doesn't end up causing problems for sellers?

Hi @bravergrace ,
As we have sent this as feedback to the team for cash on collection removal would you be able to provide some item numbers as examples that had edits and were not included in your sale event?
Thank you,
Kat

I ended my sale last night as there were no items included. I believe the following numbers had unauthorised edits on 2nd October: 186628603302, 3rd Oct: 186628443506
Additionally, I found edits made on 11th October at a time when I was not home to make any changes. Without checking all my listings, I can only recall the following item: 186707796964. This item likely wouldn't have been included at the start of the sale, but if it hadn't been edited, it would have been automatically added to the sale a couple of days ago.
