Royal Mail Changes to Second Class Delivery 28th July 2025

Has there been any information from eBay re RM changes from today in that Second Class deliveries will now be every alternate day and no Saturday deliveries.

I cannot see any announcements and hope they are going to change the Estimated Delivery Dates. 😖

All our post is sent using 2nd class as its free postage and we are getting lots of INRs already. I know our 2nd class post we are receiving is taking 5-7 days in many cases. I think ebay will have to virtually scrap the so called estimated delivery dates for 2nd class postage as its just not going to possible to judge when it will get delivered. We will have to start offering tracked postage as an option if the buyer wants it sooner

I've got an order this morning, I have handling time set to 4 days, 2nd class postage. The EDD is 30th July to August 2nd.

30th July is incredibly unreleastic at the best of times given that I don't actually have to send the order until August 1st, but with RM's new deteriorated service it's practically impossible.

Hi All,

Right now there is no immediate change. However eBay are currently liasing with the Royal Mail on their plan for rolling out this change across their delivery offices. Edd’s will be reviewed internally and once there is an further update details will be shared with both buyers and sellers.

Sorry Kat but that is really disappointing to read. It has been known for a few weeks that this change was happening today and as others have said, this is really going to affect seller metrics.

That's a very disappointing response, but not surprising as neither you nor your colleagues ever acknowledge that eBay's 'dynamic' EDDs are completely broken.

I have an order from this morning with an EDD of the 30th at the earliest. Given that RM won't be delivering tomorrow this is total pie in the sky.

This needs to be addressed with some urgency by eBay. As others have said the changed was announced months ago, it's not acceptable for eBay to just 'see how it goes'.

4 day handling time, 2nd class large letter. I don't even have to post until August 1 according to the order page.

Thats nuts. Our INR metrics are now 'high' and our payouts/funds put on a 30 days hold so I hope everyone is prepared for what is going to happen.

Hello Kat.....Royal mail have being trialing the system in over 8 areas of the uk for 8 weeks...

My item nor received cases are rolling in now! How on earth can eBay not be proactive as opposed to reactive ?  How can eBay expect business to operate with a flawed estimated delivery system{oh hang on its being like that for 2 years}..

The postage team need to have a go at running a business then they might understand....oh lets not forget we are also fighting private sellers who are business sellers..

How can you not see that this is not working as intended? I've just added an option to 'upgrade' to 1st class on all my large letter listings and the EDDs are exactly the same.

Why exactly will a customer pay extra for 1st class if this is what eBay are showing them (and refuse to acknowledge that there's anything wrong with this)?

It's 15:40 on 28th July and there's a very minute chance that this order will arrive on July 30th even if sent 1st class, with practically zero if sent 2nd class.

Darth  mine have being like this for months...They are clueless ...only problem is the chat team can never give a straight answer or truthful or factual  as they are employed by eBay and mainly pay lip service to appease posters

The phrase ‘working as intended’ means different things to ebay and its users.

It benefits ebay to encourage as many sales as possible by misleading buyers about delivery timescales in order to prevent them from losing business to another marketplace with faster order fulfilment.

Ebay’s users (buyers and sellers) simply want advertised delivery timescales to reflect reality.

This is how ebay can truthfully claim that things are ‘working as intended’.

I personally dont think youve got a cat in hells chance of the second class option arriving by the 2nd august. Just my opinion. I am getting letters for example off the bank dated some 10 days prior to receiving the actual letter in the post second class.
