You might want to look at it in another direction.
So you get a discount to your fees, if you are a top rated seller with eBay Premium Service.
If the EDDs arent fixed, a lot more sellers with TRS & Premium will lose that discount because their metrics will be higher.
Who will pocket that lost discount? That would be eBay. 🙂

Oh and this kerfuffle with RM gives eBay perfect pretext to start a rollout of Simple Delivery for Business
🙂

Given that August 2nd is a Saturday and RM have made it clear they won't deliver 2nd class on Saturdays, further proof if any was needed that eBay's EDDs are generated in cloud cuckoo land.
Please explain why eBay are showing Saturday as a possible delivery date for 2nd class when Royal Mail have stated they won't be delivering 2nd class on Saturdays.

We stopped jumping through to get the TRS as it just wasn’t worth it and is now virtually impossible

Items purchased yesterday are showing estimated delivery as 30th July to 2nd august. Complete rubbish. Based on 2-3 working days this should now be 1st - 4th august (at best).

@qualitycardsandgifts
Wow they are generous. Mine purchased last night after post office closed.

It's quite nice to know that I'm not alone with these postage estimates because I've tried every different combination of settings to give a realistic delivery date none of which work! I sell stickers which I send 2nd class letter and the difference between 1st and 2nd class is 83p which would make my stickers too expensive. It's not much to ask for a realistic delivery date!

I have to say I am getting some unrealistic EDDs coming up as it is and that's for parcel services. I do have a few items on Royal Mail Tracked 48 large letter though and I am wondering if they are going to be affected by these changes.
29-07-2025 12:45 PM
Postie has just told me these so called changes arent official as yet but have been trialled in various areas over the UK? Can anyone tell me if it is official at all?

I don't know if this helps anyone (obviously not with ebays ridiculous seller ratings) but I now send a dispatch email when I'm sending every order, clearly telling buyers that the actual EDD is up to 5 working days from posting.
Most are then fine and don't complain, I only get the odd person (despite the fact they chose not to opt for 1st class post) and feedback is generally really good now.

Looks like Kat has chosen to not respond to my questions. Must be nice to be able to just ignore customers like that, not a luxury most of us enjoy.

How they have treated my business after being on here for 24 years with 46000 positive feedback nothing surprises me!! Ebay give no backing to their business sellers whatsoever. Truly shocking platform to sell on and I really hope I am able to jump ship completely one day.
29-07-2025 6:44 PM
I realise this is a business seller board - and so I don't know all about the metrics etc. But if instead of listing with Royal Mail 2nd class something, if you chose Other Courier 3-5 days (or OC 5 days) would that give more realistic estimated dates? I assume you can still post it RM 2nd class.
(I'm guessing you would actually like ebay to make some changes - the above is just an "idea for temporary use" and as I say I don't know if listing with slow postage options has consequences. Feel free to ignore if of no use.)

These are the official announcements from Ofcom and Royal Mail:

For me, 2nd Class Letter and Large Letter gives different dates to other 2nd class options. E.g. in the below it would be better to just list "2nd Class"
30-07-2025 8:32 AM
"Allegedly" RM treat 2nd class Large Letter differently from 2nd class Letter which is different from 2nd class in general. In my opinion it's a pile of.... letters. Our postie has every item 1st or 2nd in a bundle and delivers every 2nd day. Has been this way for a few months now unless its next day guaranteed and speaking to RM staff which I do daily for pickups - its been this way for months now and is pretty much standard across the country or will be soon as posties are assigned different routes on different days unless there is a guaranteed next day.
Also selling your items as Other Courier would be theoretically a breach of rules on misrepresenting postal options. I know... its weird but I dont make the rules, nor do eBay enforce them unless they feel like it.
