Hi all, im just wondering if anyone who may use the RM48 service (not the tracked version) for large letters may have any advise on if they get a lot of INR complaints,
ebay estimate my delivery times roughly 3 days (so for example today its showing monday and orders today will get posted tommorow morning) i have always used RM24 for these shipments and more often than not all is okay, my service metrics are 0.6% which is around 0.08% above others.
However i've tested for a few days over the last week RM48 for large letters as im struggling to justify the second 30p increase in a 6 months with royal mail going up again on the 2nd of January but bottled it and increased the prices and gone back to RM24 as the 2d tracking scans are showing the majority of items arriving a day or 2 later than eBay's estimates.
is anyone in the same boat as myself? i know i can increase the dispatch time ect for a longer delivery estimate (if that even works) but its a toss up between charging more for a better service or being cheaper and potentially disappointing many customers or putting them off all together, but the difference in cost between the 2 options is growing substantially each year.
even though i advertise RM48 as the service i send these items using the RM24 and have for many years, i offer the optional upgrade but its rare anyone selects it but still wants everything to arrive instantly.
with my metrics already slightly above the "average" im thinking the RM48 swap maybe a step too far and cause problems down the line, its a real headache what route to continue with,
thank you.

And there lies the problem. eBay sticky their heads in the sand denying anything is
wrong with EDDS. Countless posts on the subject.
Thank fully 95% of my on-line sales are through the website, where buyers get EDDs
from the non fantasy real world.

When I bought my own postage (2nd class large stamps) I noticed an un healthy level of INR claims. I then changed to buying postage off of Ebay, the label has an Ebay logo on it and is registered if delivered. Since then have had much less INR but still the odd one. I would conclude that before there was a mixture of both chancer buyers and RM incompetence. Now I would say any INR is 100% RM incompetence

I have a RM business account and the majority of my items are sent out as second class large letter, just the bog standard and not RM48.
A couple of years ago with all the issues with eBay's ridiculous EDDs I started to send them RM48 as they would be tracked. I sell very low value items so this was costing me more in postage. However, I then found I had more INR's with RM48 than I have ever had so went back to normal RM Large Letter as at least you can claim compensation if your item goes missing.
The good thing is RM now seem to be scanning the normal RM Large Letter (well the ones with bar codes or tracking numbers) as I can now see in many of my orders that they show as delivered.
