Changes from now for new private sellers and from next year for existing private sellers means their funds from a sale won't be available until after delivery but no change to business sellers availability next day. Seperate to this eBay are also mandating UK Private Sellers will all have to use eBay Managed Shipping
I wonder if this will encourage more private sellers who should be a business to convert..

I have seen the part about payment, but not delivery - do you have a link, please? The only reference I have seen is this:
To get your funds faster, we recommend using Simple Delivery or other eBay postage labels, which include tracking, and sending your order as soon as possible after the buyer pays.

It may encourage more unregistered business seller to register correctly - but it will likely encourage a lot of private sellers to leave ebay, and if they aren't selling here, they won't be buying here either.

The delivery part was mentioned externally but by the CEO

Going off the reaction from when eBay stopped automatic withdrawals for private sellers I don't think this is going to go down well.
It would be so much easier if they just tackled the real issues instead of creating more.

The larger businesses masquerading as private will continue - they have not just arrived since the 1st Oct when it became free to sell for private sellers.... they have been around for years and previously reported with no action against!
As a small 17yrs genuine private seller with above standard rating... whose purchases far outweighs their sales, you can bet I will not be buying ever again on this site. ... I have removed everything from my watchlist, even potential Christmas presents - I will source elsewhere.
I also will not sell anything when this comes into play in February.
The goal posts have moved far too many times and this site is not user - friendly nor has any respect been shown to its " customers"... whom without eBay would not exist... . we are not members or shareholders, we are ALL actually customers of eBay - A marketing sales online auction house platform who have not held up their side of the bargain so to speak, and continually shown that we do not matter.
It has become a dog-eat-dog full of scammers and foreign sellers - eBay cannot even get their UK site to show UK items first - a plethora of either China or USA bombards the feed! It has become a nightmare to navigate, and we could feel lucky if we get any views on items let alone sell one!
The heart of what eBay once was and presented has been ripped out, and stamped all over by greed, and I cannot see it ever recovering. That, however, is not my concern...eBay can sort their own mess out, but as a morally conscious and caring human being I do not want to be associated with such a dictating, joy destroying, disingenuous company.
Lets just remember this...
eBay Inc. is an American multinational e-commerce company based in San Jose, California, that allows users to buy or view items via retail sales through online marketplaces and websites in 190 markets worldwide. Sales occur either via online auctions or "buy it now" instant sales, and the company charges commissions to sellers upon sales. eBay was founded by Pierre Omidyar in September 1995.
Ebay has fallen off its own platform and ethos!

what does managed shippments mean? is it the same as simple delivery?
03-12-2024 9:45 PM
I actually have no idea as I only use the post office direct, to support them.
If it means sellers are " dictated" to use eBay postal labels and/or carriers , pre-paid fees like they do for GSP ( Global Shipping Programme) I think they are on a slippery slope.
This takes every sellers " control" over managing their account away from them, much like they are doing with their " funds."
These actions only deem to maximise eBays profit.

Yes, it is the sane thing.

What’s simple delivery ? I get my post collected by Royal Mail. I would never use Evri on eBay. Just seen, I’ve a private account as well. I will be opting out of simple delivery .

Every time I have tried to use managed delivery it has come up with post code errors
04-12-2024 8:44 AM
Agree making them use their postal service could cause problems, my wifes mum uses royal mail as shes a few doors down .. pretty sure she would no longer sell. many wont have printers either.
Is there a link to the comm about having funds held ?
I supose if private sellers earn them no fees why bother making it easy for them to trade ?

Ah, I see. Well that came from the site that frequently get things wrong. The bit I quoted was from the new Payments T&C, so presumably is correct.
I don't really see how they can force you into Simple Delivery - and if they do, that will be a few more sellers gone.

14 Days is the maximum wait regardless.

"Yes, it is the sane thing." - I love it, that'll be the day. 🤣 Sanity on eBay!
I do know it's a typo - just couldn't help it ...... so apt.

Non stop ads for private sellers to sell for free on ebay followed by a move that makes it harder for private sellers to get their hands on the cash they make when selling for free.
Ebay seems to have a very strange way of doing things these days.

But is it??
I asked the very same question on the first thread I saw on this topic on Seller Central and got no answer from anyone, not even the Community Team.
Ebay holds private seller's funds on an array of pretexts. Is there any guarantee that they will use the new compulsory Hold to do any of these, making payment certain after, at most, 14 days. Or will they sit on their hands until day 15, THEN discover that the seller's bank account or address needs re-verifying and impose another hold?
They've played that trick before, Hold for one thing then extend it for another and another....
04-12-2024 11:43 AM
If I wasn't leaving already I would be after reading ebay is introducing mandatory payment Holds for private sellers in Feb.
And that goes double for mandatory ebay organising my shipping. Glass and the cheapest courier ebay can find DO NOT go together.
Following from that, as someone has already said, if I'm not selling here neither will I be buying here, especially as I buy mostly Glass.
I can just imagine some Evri driver hurling my parcel at my 4th floor balcony
