Postage Labels From Ebay

Why oh why does eBay not allow sellers to mark when the item is despatched and not when you buy the label...bloody annoying... 

And very unprofessional  ...All other main sites do not operate this system...

Just buy the label when you want to dispatch it, not sure why you would find this a problem as its inserting the tracking number at the same time.  Personally I will print off the label, write on the back what they have ordered and then apply when ready

hi simply..its a problem on a Sunday or sat Afternoon  if you want to get ahead with orders !as buyers are informed its in the post..

The heading on the email says 'Hi [name], your order is being posted!'

It doesn't add 'at this very minute' or 'today'.  It just means that the order is packed and ready to despatch.

However, whether buyers can understand the subtle difference is another matter ...

I know what you mean.  I tend to do them on a Sunday on the basis that most buyers will have the sense to know it won't be going anywhere until Monday. There will probably be one one day though...

It would really be better if a seller could choose to mark when they dispatched it though like we did in the old days 🙂  The tracking doesn't actually start until they are received by the carrier in any case.

It would be better if the heading said your order is being processed. It's what the majority of other sites use and most buyers understand what is meant by it.

I prefer to have control over marking as despatched too,  RM Click & Drop all the way, plus they actually print international labels and customs forms correctly!

I think we all agree it's yet another example of Ebay's inability to communicate properly, but if it's affecting you so badly don't buy postage through eBay.

Agree. Actually had buyer stating. Many thanks for posting on a Sunday!  I didn’t know you could post on a Sunday.   And there’s the rub buyers being told something by eBay which is wrong. Despatch times and delivery dates spring to mind!

Get mine picked up on the doorstep via Royal Mail.

It’s the same at Amazon. When they generate the label, you get the dispatched email. I work there
