The new "upgraded" messgaes is a bit *bleep*.
There doesn't seem to be any way to send an offer to a buyer through messages anymore.
This was a really useful feature - if a buyer made you an offer in a message, you could instantly send them an offer at that price through messages.
It was so useful it seems they have decided to get rid of it. Thanks a bunch eBay.
Solved! Go to Solution.

And as if by magic........the send offer button has reappeared!
Maybe they are paying attention after all.

"if a buyer made you an offer in a message" ???.
Very risky to both buyer and seller.Sellers can only send offers to watchers or add best offer to a listing.Buyers should ONLY make offers via the listing if the best offer option is available.
Every time a buyer sends a message to a seller a warning comes up at the top of the page regarding the above.Ebay see it as fee evasion.

Absolutely! I use this option all the time.

The option must still be available - I'm stilll receiving unwanted offers from sellers whose items I have only looked at once and have decided not to buy or add to my Watch List. In my opinion it would be good if eBay did get shot of it, or at the very least make some changes to the site so as to give buyers the option to decide whether or not they were open to receiving Best Offers from sellers. If buyers had a choice as to whether to allow sellers to send them Best Offers then at least that way only those buyers who had opted into receiving Best Offers from sellers would end up receiving them.
Given the fact that eBay already allow sellers to include the Best Offer option on their listings I can't understand why so many sellers refuse to use this option, then send Best Offers out to random buyers, including those who have only looked at the item but have subsequently decided not to purchase it or add the item to their Watch List. If you're open to accepting Best Offers for the item just include the Best Offer option on the listing and allow potential buyers to submit a Best Offer for the item. You can always set the Best Offer function up to automatically reject offers lower than the minimum price you're willing to accept, as well as automatically accepting offers equal to, or greater than, the minimum price that you are willing to sell the item for, so I can't understand the reluctance of some sellers to use this option on their listings, especially if they're already actively sending Best Offers out to random buyers.

I had a message yesterday, and it had a big blue button that said 'Send an Offer'.
Unfortunately, the buyer was complaining that she'd ordered four, and I'd sent one. Oops. My bad. Must go to SpecSavers. Missing three sent T24 today.
The button was bigger than the tiddly little box I was given to express my fullsome apologies.

I cant see where to block a member in messages anymore, a great improvement that now seemly has been removed.

Something else that's been removed, the order number for the purchase the customer is enquiring about.
Useless.
11-11-2024 6:30 PM
Also, you cant see if the message has been replied to anymore.

and deleting is a pain as well, have to click hte message so it opens, then move back across to tick the box, christ on a bike its a massive move backwards

Yes, I almost answered the wrong message yesterday - buyer has made three identical purchases over the last month.
But does the buyer see the same rubbish? If so, how does the buyer know which order the message is about?
16-11-2024 1:19 PM
yes this is a massive pain for us too, i have to copy his username, click the item they ordered, click view purchase history and search their username to find the order
no good if you get a situation where a customer wants to change a particular order and they have placed 12 orders ion the last 30 days
needs a lot of work this... you can leave feedback in the message page too, hopefully they will read mine and add order numbers back to the messages

I've just had this issue - but my button appears not to have reappeared! I'm at a loss. Really wanted to send them an offer following their enquiry but nope - not there!

Something else that is related, I purchased some stat valves from a seller in china (goods were in the uk) but have not had the time to fit so thought I would send a message and yes you have guessed it right it will not let me when you hit contact the seller you are confronted with the original email that the seller sent when I checked out pretty stupid if you ask me.

I can't see a way to see where the user is located in the new messaging, the username isn't a link now.
I had to cut & paste the name into a user search.
It's useful to know, especially like the one I just had - newly registered user in Italy asking a question in Italian, for information which is already on the listing. It's a cheap item, GSP shipping will be expensive, I'm sure they're not aware of that.
It's never going to work out, easier just to try to put them off or just block.
User details used to be a click away, now it's a fiddly process.
19-11-2024 11:24 AM
My Orders page used to show 'Repeat Buyer' under the name and I was told by other users on these boards that, if I clicked on this, I would see a list of the previous orders. However, I couldn't. Clicking yielded nothing.
Today, I see the buyer's name, user ID and postcode. Clicking this gives me the buyer's location - e,g, Pontyclun, GB - the number of orders, items and total value, links to contact the buyer or send a coupon, and some nonsense about feedback.
So ... I've gained a working link, and you've lost one.
Only on eBay.

I have the user link now.
Messaging looks slightly different now so they must still be messing with it.

I've just tried clicking on repeat buyer on my orders and it does lead to the old orders.
That's a useful feature I didn't know about (if it doesn't disappear!).
