Negative feedback for blocking someone from buying in the future?

Someone started an item not received request because their RM Second Class order did not arrive with them on the third day after dispatch. I think it's unreasonable to do this when RM frequently take longer than they say they will to deliver. I apologised and asked them to please wait a few more days to see if it arrives which they agreed to. I also added them to my blocked buyers list because it's not economically-viable for me to accept business from customers that do this. They left me negative feedback talking about me being an amateur for blocking them. Do I have a case for asking eBay to remove it? Surely I'm permitted to block buyers I'm not comfortable with without receiving negative feedback for it?

I offer upgraded postage options but people rarely pay for the upgrade and I suspect that some users intend to take advantage of the system to get free (for them) orders which is why I block the few who open an INR the moment it becomes available. I still handle their INRs professionally with pleases, apologies and thank yous (even if I'm thinking entirely different sentiments).

I do the same!  Anyone who opens a case is automatically added to my blocked list.  If it turns out to be my fault they are removed but otherwise they stay on it permanently.

You will have to look at your feedback - you can request so many feedback removals per year - I can't remember off hand.

Read on here best to contact CS in the mornings as you are more likely to get local (UK) chat staff.  You can only try.

If they refuse you can reply to the feedback but make sure you stay within the rules.  We all know the site is heavily biased towards buyers!  And there are those who will abuse the system by opening an INR case as soon as they are permitted despite the totally unrealistic delivery times advertised to them by eBay.

Be careful with the block list. I have an INR after the 30 days MBG and instantly put them on the block list. Turns out the customer was sending me messages which I didnt get as they were blocked so they didnt appear in the inbox but the CS read them out to me. In the end he basically admitted he was going to feedback extort me, but as I didnt get the messages I couldnt overturn the negative.
Resolution was a refund on my own gesture as RM failed to scan the parcel so couldnt be sure.

On your original question: You have the right to refuse to sell to anyone, thats what the block list is there for.

Actually saying that, sometimes block list dont do much, the exact same customer above purchased something from me last week (another account, 0 feedback, same address). Had to block and cancel order.

Feedback is valid for any transaction still within 60 days of the estimated delivery date.

You could try calling eBay CS and point out that they mentioned about you blocking them and if they called you a name then thats might also be grounds for removal. Might need to do a feeback removal request first in the help section. https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/feedback-policies/feedback-policy?id=4208

I wouldnt send a feedback revision request, hes left the feedback on purpose and will not likely change it or just ignore your request.

I was under the impression that buyers who had made a purchase would still be able to message the seller until the case was closed.  After that he couldn't buy - but I may be living in cloud-cuckooland myself.

And I agree - I seldom request a feedback revision from really nasty folk as they are unlikely to change it since they seem to take pleasure from leaving it.  But I always report them.  Not doing so condones their behaviour and if enough sellers do report then eventually eBay tires of the complaints and do something constructive about it!

In one case I had similar - buyer caused problems (sale was cancelled and refunded) and buyer was blocked.  They opened a new a/c and repurchased - which is against eBay policy.  Not looked at the rules for ages - may have changed now.  But when I reported it the buyer did get a policy violation.  It was too long ago to remember the wording but I was actually impressed by the site's actions - for a change.

It used to be the case that if you had the "Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me" box ticked in buyer requirements a buyer could still message up to 90 days following the transaction. This was (thankfully) fixed last year; now the block is immediate so a blocked buyer can only communicate further if they open a case.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
