Duplicates - eBay for Business now saying they don't always remove them!

I have been reporting competitors with duplicate listings for years.  Its getting worse now.  One competitor has 4 identical listings.  I have reported them via concierge, they take the reports and nothing gets done.  I have reported them at least 10 times now.  They have 1400 listings but in reality should be about 200.

In desperation I also contacted eBay for Business.  Their response was:

I appreciate that you want them removed ASAP. As per our policies, we may take a range of actions, some of which may not be removals. I cannot disclose anything further than that. Thank you

I have sold on eBay since 1999, have nearly half a million feedbacks.  My business is being negatively affected by eBay not policing this.

What do I do if ebay are not taking action to police their own policies and my business is not thriving as a result?

That fee was for things like the new Windsor agreement or the online seller tax or the Brexit regulations or some other money grab.

To which I bet there was zero new resources allocated to any of those things.

My response to you lupo-store is dont sweat it. eBay wont do jack about any of it. All it does is raise your blood pressure. I know thats not helpful in the slightest, but it is literally al I have. eBay wont do anything and it's not gonna help to get bent out of shape with it. All that does is cause you more stress to which eBay dont care about.

If its something you are concerned about, then my only recommendation, if you are inclined is to do the same as them. You already know eBay aren't going to do anything about it as you've noticed.

We have a competitor who is literally taking up the first 50% of first page with deuplicate identical listings of the same product. Reported to ebay several times and nothing is ever done. Disgusting as I've been on here 25 years and the competitor comes along and blows us away with duplicate listings. Amazon dont stand any duplicate listings and they get removed immediately.

I wonder what eBay's response would be if you flooded the search pages with duplicate listings.

I know I a few years ago, by accident listed a same item with a different title and it was taken down within minutes but these days..... I dont think any reports get actioned. I dont know if the Trust/Risk team are so overwhelmed or they just trust to some kind of broken AI to refuse everything.

I think you are correct in that they are overwhelmed.

Thats why if Concierge can remove clear cut duplicates and that in turn triggers a 72 hour account review, thus giving these 'Del Boys' time to get their house in order prior to a 1 day suspension sorts the issue and is less work.

I've spoke to eBay CS, eBay CS (Ireland), eBay Management (Ireland), eBay CS (face to face at a roadshow) and eBay Management  (face to face at a roadshow) and every single one of them has agreed with me that items/accounts should be actioned once I pointed out the issues.

Nothing ever gets done. No action. Stuff that is not only a breach of eBay rules but actually illegal - nothing gets done.

I dont bother now. Not worth the time and effort, which is perhaps the point of all of this.

Re: Duplicates - eBay for Business now saying they don't always remove them!

I have sent it to senior management also.  Registered official 'complaints' with Concierge (they get filtered up).

There are too many 'Del Boy' sellers on eBay.  These would not last 5 minutes on Amazon.  eBay is too soft on them.  They get away with everything and the ONLY way they can sell more is be grey hat tactics (duplicates, copying other listing EAN's etc to gain their reviews, sell counterfeit items).

We all know who they are but eBay allow them to proliferate.

I have seen 2 accounts recently (from Luton).  Same inventory on both, multiple duplicates over the same listings, stealing my product details for years and finally they are no more....gone.   This has invigorated my fight.  There's loads more but since these have gone my sales have increased in those markets.  I need the other duplicates gone.

Can we get some input from the moderators please?

Same happening with my competitor. Two accounts selling the same products with dozens of duplicates. No action taken by ebay even though Ive reported several times. No wonder ebay is collapsing

eBay have told me to report every 5 days.  The more reports the more it 'tips the scales' but why not just act immediately?

Re: Duplicates - eBay for Business now saying they don't always remove them!

I would love to see some action on that front, but it literally is the case that I dont have concierge, I doubt I ever will. Speaking to people repeatedly with zero results is a waste of my time and energy. Doesn't matter what is said, because its either CS are a waste of time and energy or CS are doing their job and the Trust & Safety/Risk team aren't doing their job.

You know what one of the most galling things is.... and this might seem petty. If I speak to anyone at eBay this is the first thing I hit them with and they are always shocked. Duplicate listing from two accounts using the same details - not uncommon. Its been on eBay for 10+ years. If I copy their listing title into a new listing to try and make a copy for the purposes of checking eBay policies out - it gets refused under eBay rules on offensive text. If I post the title into a message or a post, it gets removed for offensive text.  So if I cant even mention this item's title, why is it allowed? Not once, but twice - actually multiple times. When I speak to eBay CS in Ireland, face to face, from Malaysia or wherever - some of the CS wont even say the title and are unbelieving that it's still there.

So I've come to the realisation, that it's one rule for some, one rule for another.  That is the way it is.

Concierge or not, there is no difference - believe me. No-one cares here ony more and I have endless number of examples.

Thats the REALLY SAD part of it.  Its like eBay can't be bothered to sufficiently police these 'bad actors' and they just do what they want.

I report about 10 sellers per day for Vero offences.
