I've sold more items and made more money this month to local people than I have on ebay. In fact my weekly payout from ebay, which came in today, is less than I sold locally yesterday.

I think ebay has forgotten to open the door for the Christmas rush. I have never known November to be so dead. The only consolation is from these boards is I can see I'm not alone - there are so many going through the same thing. I also think I have been selected by ebay for some testing of new features at the worst possible time of the year. When I've run my cursor over my name in the top left corner sometimes I get a drop down that has included 'wallet' - something coming for business users? I'm also getting new version of the performance pages which I'm not impressed with. What we have now is at a glance no clicks required. The new version seems to involve clicking to get to see everything. ebay seems to be on a mission to make its systems less user friendly. I probably have been dumped on to some backwater server while this is going on which why I'm getting the .com issues . Moan over. Time for more coffee.

Christmas Sales have plummeted this week even with an ebay coupon code offer. Have noticed when these coupon codes are taken out sales decline! Is it because Ebay don't really want to pay their share of the discount?!

I've already finished my Xmas shopping, as I like to spread it out and not over tax the poor delivery drivers during the Xmas period.
Nothing is selling at the moment
Houses where I live were, a few years ago, selling within weeks of being put on the market
Now there are houses that have been for sale for a couple of years, no interest, no sales.
Nobody is buying anything!

I totally agree with you. People on here blaming ebay for everything but its not them its the state of the economy and the country and even the world. People are scared stiff of this new socialist government. My daughter works for a local restaurant and the boss came in last week and made many staff redundant as he said specifically he cant take the hit of the minimum wage increases AND National Insurance increases. So 1000s of jobs WILL be lost. How does that make people feel about spending? They won't spend. The economy will stagnate and I believe we will be in for a big recession next year. My accountant has said he believes the UK will actually go bust.

On the news today, they said cash was being used more again.. Perhaps like you say, we are heading towards a recession and with cash people are having more control over what they spend.

There are two other advantages for buyers when they pay in cash:
- you don't have to pay P&P costs (and with lower value items, the P&P can account for more than half the price).
- you don't have the hassle of returns - you can usually inspect the item or try it on. Online returns are time-consuming, and often mean you are paying several pounds in return costs for an item that doesn't fit. Money down the drain - both buyer and seller have forked out two lots of P&P, and a fair amount of time wasted. If money and time are tight, this return malarkey is an expensive luxury.

Cash stuffing has become very popular in the last six months. It's so popular that you can even buy personalised cash stuffing binders on Etsy!
When I struck out on my own as an independent 18 year old, I quickly found that I had more month than money. I had to resort to cash stuffing (although I didn't have a fancy name then) if I hoped to have enough cash to feed myself towards the end of the month.
I think it's a sad reflection of the current economic time that it's returned.

I've always preferred to pay by cash. Years ago, i used to take cash out of the bank to spend. We pay our coalman in cash and O/H uses a mix of both cash and card when he does the shopping.
As for Christmas rush, like the last few years, can't see that happening. I've brought most of the pressies and they are all wrapped ready to go in the post to the family.

Ha ha i also just had to google cash stuffing 🙂
I think thats the old school way of budgeting. Now this will confirm that i am officially old. Many years ago one used to have a large tin with slots....labelled rent, gas electric etc etc 🙂
I guess we do both. I currently have an envelope with money in for our Christmas turkey crown and all festive food so i must be a cash stuffer lol
A lot of mens and womens hairdressers by us also only take cash so we do use a mix of both card and cash.

Back in 1976 when I left home, the only thing I ever put aside was the weekly rent money.

If anyone would like to do cash stuffing and post them through my letter box, i'm at home all day and i'm happy to provide the envelopes............
