Buyers on eBay are not leaving feedback for purchased items?

Hi Everyone,

Earlier on I checked my sales and feedback and I cannot understand why buyers are not leaving feedback for my purchased items, I even have repeat buyers not leaving feedback as well, I have not had any buyers contacting me with any issues but still, buyers are not leaving feedback. What a strange phenomenon it is very bizarre indeed I've never seen this in 20 years. Even the products that I have sold for years are top quality items and still no feedback.

Is anyone else on here having the same or similar issues?

Buyers on eBay are not leaving feedback for purchased items?

I have had to give refunds out on a few occasions when buyer says they have not had an item ( I know what your thinking ‘Tracking’ and once I’ve done that buyer then says they found item somewhere -behind bin etc and have no way of then getting paid for item
Surly eBay should look into this as I’m sure it happens a lot
What do you think

If they are willing to pay, then you can just give them your paypal details.

It's not exactly above board, but it tends to be ignored.

Buyers on eBay are not leaving feedback for purchased items?

I agree that it probably happens quite often. It's happened twice to me and I'm not an unusual buyer, so extrapolate per centages for all buyers. I wait for several days after an item's due and if it's not come (in the days of no tracking - 2nd class ordinary post) I message the seller with a sitrep along the lines of "will wait until next week and let you know; will let you know straightaway if it comes" - so far that's been as far as it's gone as the item turns up within a few days of my message.

The "twice" occasions the items took ages to reach me, one of them 6 weeks!!, but of course I needed (and wanted) to return their refunds as I wanted the items: for one the seller, a small business, had another in stock so said "buy again and I won't send it", but the second said I should keep it and said there was no need to return the refund so I sent them books of stamps to cover it. Both times there was no eBay way that we could discern to achieve a return of the refund, and it would've been much simpler and involved fewer messages (or none) if eBay had an automatic mechanism.

Ebay do have a mechanism for this, but the customer has to contact support and convince them to recharge their card.  99% of the time, the agents don't know how to do this, or simply don't care and tell the customer to keep the money!

Hence PayPal.

An automatic mechanism isn't going to happen though.

How could it?  Ebay rely on sellers to recharge the customers card?

How many times would that get abused by dodgy sellers?

In fact, the more I think about it, the only way it could really happen is if the item is fully tracked.  Which defeats the object.

CS didn't want to know at all when it was the case of the item showing up after 6 weeks.

A buyer on ebay is protected by UK distance selling laws.

If the buyer isnt happy for any reason they have the right to return the item.

On top of that ebay has its money back guarantee.

Returns can be a nightmare.

Some people will buy half a dozen items and keep a couple and send the rest back.

So it can be abused sometimes.

Well, if you don't want to sort something out, you don't have to.

It's takes 5 minutes to setup a paypal account, why wouldn't you?

I'm sorry, but whilst I have sympathy for you in that position, you are assuming an awful lot by saying that not everyone is like me.  How exactly do you know that?

If you are quite capable of sorting out a bank account and running multiple sales on Ebay, then you are capable of opening a paypal account.  To say otherwise, puts other people in a similar position as being incapable, when there are many out there that are and in turn, is demeaning.

If your not able to, then surely you have a friend/family member etc that could assist you.

After all, it's setup and collect the money.  It's not like it's something that your going to do every day of the week.  It should be a one off or very occasional.

I genuinely hope your treatment goes well.     I fully understand why at the moment you need to stick to what you know.   Unless someone has actually been through this illness they will not understand the implications.

Maybe the answer is to get a family member to help you open a Paypal account.

IF you are running your Ebay account on your own at the minute you are doing great x

Selling individual items is a labour and time intensive occupation and it is a scunner that buyers don't acknowledge it. The nice ones do but they are in a very small minority.

It seems odd, to me anyway, that eBay doesn't at least have a policy in their FAQ, even if it's "after [length of time] you and the seller are on your own and thus it's not our concern if you sort it out outside eBay".

I'm another one who doesn't use PayPal. I've never been asked or required to pay specifically by PayPal, but on a number of non-eBay online stores, I see it's an option among several.

I've just seen this. I know three people who've had this, for whom it made for an intense relentless exhausting long time. Please may I wish you all the best.

Good point, sorry I didn't think of it. It'd mean eBay having oversight e.g. setting up a mechanism that required the buyer to manually click 'verify/confirm' on an eBay page, and have eBay make the recharge. I'm now realising that might not be a good idea, as I wonder how competently eBay would implement it (and they'd probably want a fee), based solely on reading posts about eBay's shambolic implementation of the updated app, applying BPF and SD.

Doesn't eBay censor email addresses sent in eBay messages?

Is there a way to send PayPal details that doesn't involve email?

'Doesn't eBay censor email addresses sent in eBay messages?

Once a seller and a buyer have actually been in a transaction (i.e. money has 'changed hands' so ebay got their slice) they *should* be able to swap details

This is how 'collection only' works. Otherwise the buyer wouldn't know where to go to collect the item...
