Business seller policy needs updating

The information on the business seller policy page needs updating as it is not being applied and therefore it has become obsolete.

If sellers are allowed to operate businesses from private accounts which seems to be the case the policy needs to be changed asap, people will then know where they stand and can trade and plan accordingly.

See the page I am referring to here:

Re: Business seller policy needs updating

That page, together with the phrase in the form of 'the seller is responsible for the information in their listing', is the minimum eBay need to do to avise the legal requirements of a business seller on eBay and is their defence against any actions sought by the respective authorities.  In other words they will not revise it.

Business sellers will have to put up with it, re-register as a private seller to compete, or move on to an alternative platform ....... or they could do all three.

Re: Business seller policy needs updating

Just seen a so called private seller who's operating as a jewellery business has well over 700 items on her page!
just sick of it. I'm fuming every time. As they get theirs free and us businesses who are with Hmrc have to pay for extra listings.

Re: Business seller policy needs updating

I  agree with you and i am in the same situation with Jewellery. I keep finding them with promoted listings on my Jewellery listings! IUndercutting me with very similar items. it is making me feel so annoyed selling on here and as yet no simple and clear cut way of reporting them. I also sell fair trade items and keep finding private 'business' sellers with hundreds of fair trade new items for sale that also sell on Etsy and Instagram. Its getting ridiculous and im getting to the point of giving up or diversifying.

Im not selling enough to call this a job anymore and i've got bills to pay. So i will probably become a part time seller in the New Year and find something that will actually give me a decent months pay. Ebay has forgotten about other competition, its not just Vinted.

Re: Business seller policy needs updating

Just seen another selling Ladies Grinch Slippers Great Design Size 5.5-6. I kid you not as a private seller acting as a business he has well over 1,800 plus listings.

meanwhile I being a business has 800 I think.

Re: Business seller policy needs updating

According to Ebay's expert customer service team (overseas) you can sell over 80k a year or 3600 items without needing to register as a business.
