Not mine but some other business sellers listings and About Me pages are not showing full contact information. Just name and address.
I'm more intrigued than anything, how is that possible? No email or number.
Even sellers I've purchased from.

There isn't a separate set of regulations for online selling. The CCRs have additional requirements for "distance contracts concluded by electronic means" in Section 14. That section simply references Schedule 2 as posted earlier.
In my opinion the spirit rather than the letter of Schedule 2 applies. Any time you're on a seller's profile or viewing a listing there's a "Contact" or "Contact seller" button or link which also results in an email (and app) notification being sent to the seller. It should also be noted those regulations were drawn up in 2013 after being proposed about 5 years prior to that - I'm pretty sure with the PTSN telephone network currently in the process of being switched off very few people can actually send or receive a fax now.

But me being the festering kind, I don't understand why I have mine displayed without the option to remove.
Do you have the option to edit on this page?

Try entering a single "0" as a value - that stops it being greyed out but I don't know if eBay will try to "verify" the number. My email address and telephone number are shown as "not verified" so it appears verification is not required.

Yep tried all that, all the 0's, one 0, I think when I registered as a business seller there wasn't an option not to show it, and I'm stuck in the 2000's!
Had 2 CS agents try one was incredibly helpful and tried everything to no avail.

Right, virtual number seems to be the only solution.
Thank you all for trying to help.
I've wasted far too much time on it
Could be something to do with my doing the books avoidance technique...

I know certain information was optional at one time; I'm guessing eBay made it mandatory around the time the CCRs kicked in (2014). However, I'm pretty sure I remember it still being optional until later than that.
I'm guessing the accounts that don't show the information either never entered it or removed it before the fields became mandatory.

I don't think it's the only solution. As mentioned earlier you could purchase a cheap (~£15) feature phone and stick a PAYG SIM in it. Or you could set up a free Skype account, obtain a number and use the free voicemail feature.

Hi @bojangled ,
I'm following up from your query on the weekly chat earlier.
If its not allowing you to remove the number its likely its required to have it. Just to double check with you. When you try under " public business info" in account settings it doesn't allow it to be removed?
Thank you,
Kat

Thanks for following up.
No once edited to remove the save button is greyed out.
I don't understand how it can be 'required' when there are plenty of business accounts out there not displaying this info.
Regards
Jo

Hi @bojangled ,
They might have not had the detail there before the ability to remove it was changed. I'll check into it though, I'll need to follow up with the relevant team offline.
I am out of the office tomorrow and Friday, If I get an update sooner I'll let you know.
Thank you,
Kat

Hi @bojangled ,
After following up with a few different teams I’m afraid there isn’t a way to remove the phone number. It can only be removed by replacing it with another number.
In terms of what is required for business sellers full contact details are needed. Contact details can be phone number, email address and physical address. The phone number became more important to have when managed payments was introduced and 2fa with it. Im not sure why some accounts do not show the phone number unless it was not filled out during registration or when the upgrade happened.
I’m sorry to hear you are receiving nuisance messages to the number but even after trying with the other teams it won’t allow it to be removed. The only option is to replace it with another number.
Thank you,
Kat
