Awful new item sold emails

Seriously, who thinks these things up? Instead of the awful 'you made the sale for' emails, today I'm getting 'the payment from (user)  is confirmed, then the first few characters of the actual item title, which is truncated so I can't read what it is.

The body contains this useless nonsense

Good news, your item has been paid for.
Your buyer has confirmed the payment of £6.49. It’s time to pack up your item and post it off. You selected 5-days dispatch time, so make sure you send it by Wed, 06 Nov, 2024.

Payouts of available funds are initiated within 2 working days of order confirmation. Once eBay initiates a payout, funds will be available in your bank account per normal bank processing times.

Then a link to buy a postage label (no thanks), then finally the details of what the item is. Why does eBay think I need to be told I have to pack up it and post if off for every sale, and how long payouts will take?

Can you not get just a basic email correct without endless tinkering?

Edit: they also forgot to mention that although I have until November 6th to post it, the buyer expects it by November 2nd.

Completely agree, their continuous ability to mangle the English language and write nonsense emails containing everything BUT what they need to contain is always impressive. This latest one is the worst though, the subject line is easily overlooked...what is wrong with the words 'item sold' or 'you have an order'? They stand out quickly when you scan through your emails. 'The payment is confirmed' could mean literally anything, including looking identical to many scams.  It's baffling, annoying and time consuming. If anyone from eBay's Comms people reads this, please stop tinkering and make your emails look and sound professional!

Re: Awful new item sold emails

Just keep it simple and less intelligence insulting like on my website

"(customers name) has just placed an order on (my website). Please log in to your account to view the full order. "

No need to tell me I need to pack and dispatch. Think I already worked that bit out.

Re: Awful new item sold emails

Hopefully it's just another of ebay's 'world famous glitches' and they will revert it back to something more simple (and useful) ASAP.

It is actually quite impressive how many regressive changes ebay manages to implement.

Still we've finally got a search bar on buyer messages!

Re: Awful new item sold emails

I actually thought it was a scam email when I received the first email in the new format, it looks like they've copied a lot of it from one of those PayPal scam emails.

Constantly changing the text in them is really annoying if like me you use filters on emails to file them in folders.

What's happened to the spellchecker on this forum? Looks like it's lost its dictionary, it's flagging every word as wrong.

I noticed that GB is now used  in the post to address in these emails.

You check e-mails from E-bay?? The e-mail address I use for e-bay was abandoned years ago due to the endless pointless incessant spam.

I'm still getting the 'The payment from is confirmed' ones.

Re: Awful new item sold emails

I'm getting the 'Payment is confirmed' email.

I'm also getting an email for every label I create.  It says 'Thank you for using eBay delivery.  You can access the label purchased by clicking on the "Reprint Label" button'.  I don't have to click on "Reprint Label"  - when I paid for the label I was given the option to open the label or download the label.

Since these idiotic emails have started arriving, the download has ceased to work.  The first label is downloaded OK, the following downloads aren't label files, they're captcha.htm files.  I have to open the label and snip it.

So ... by generating a useless email, the developers have broken the download.  kat@ebay can you look into this please?

Yes, back to those now. I did get a couple of 'you made the sale' ones though.

Re: Awful new item sold emails

Changed again. Now have an image of the team  running in a blind panic seeing

how many times they can change the email in one day till they get something that works.

Just had this

"Your buyer has confirmed the payment of £25.00 + £11.45 postage. It’s time to pack up your item and post it off."

Oh, you have to pack and post it. Never thought of that - excuse my sarcasm.

Any way, chill out eBay, I,m finishing off my brew and the PO is open till 5.15pm.

Re: Awful new item sold emails

The GB address detail is interesting as up until a couple of days ago it was United Kingdom – suspect this change has something to do with the up coming GPSR requirements - I wonder what country detail it gives when the buyer is in Northern Ireland

Re: Awful new item sold emails

I use the emails to navigate to buyer's orders. Mostly because the eBay orders page takes too long to load and defaults to only showing awaiting dispatch, also can't search by postcode on it. When I follow the link on the new emails it takes me to the product page instead. Who on earth thought that was more useful?? I am on the email for their order, 99% of the time the eBay page I will need is their order. Please please please eBay find something useful to spend my fees on.

Re: Awful new item sold emails

I had emails filters set up, gave up just over a year ago when the subject line kept changing.

I actually find the app more useful for sales notifications.

Re: Awful new item sold emails

At least now the address is black text on a white background and copies into a word processor to print out fine.

The old one was coloured text which needed changing to black.

Re: Awful new item sold emails

This change was made in the US at the same time and also received a lot more criticism over there.  I suspect that is what caused the revert back to the previous message format.

eBay developers! - it really makes you wonder what goes through their minds with changes of that nature.  They obviously have no experiencing of selling at a business level.

As for Khoros - well one week after reporting and the spellcheck on these boards still not fixed/reset.

The above tells you all you need to know about these companies.
