Weekends for me used to be the busiest part of the week, but online sales have become as expensive as buying form a shop, so i feel as though my potential customers are now buying from shops where they can take their old part and get a match and advice, also not wait for delivery.
Ebay has itself become too expensive with the cost of delivery also constantly rising.

Hi, just a heads up..........i have been selling on ebay for about 10 years and never before have i experienced a drop in sales as i have this September............somethings up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! however, since i emailed ebay on Friday 13th my sales have improved........4 sales this morning........

How do you email eBay sorry to ask but I cannot find a contact mail address we work on 5 different platforms and eBay has dropped from second after Amazon for our sales to last after Facebook it's crazy.
Our sales have dropped 11k in 30 days so far it's not viable

Although my sales are not impacted, I thought I would share some observations as obviously something has been fiddled with or things have changed on the site.
I was complaining about lack of international sales a few weeks ago, suddenly my international sales are up quite a bit vs the rest of this year, no explanation and I have not done anything different, so visibility has been changed somewhere. OR my sales should be up across the board and the UK sales are just down a lot and international are where they just should be I am unsure which!
International sales come in waves unrelated to time zone. E.g. when I do my orders, I will have say 40 orders and maybe 6 or 7 in a row may be all international one after the other but there is no pattern by country or time zone, e.g. one could be USA, then Sweden, then another USA then Australia then 2 to Japan etc. Like visibility is being impacted.
For sure there is an algorithmic change whereby if you sell an item on the platform, it will be given some sort of extra special placement in search results than it ordinarily would have done. E.g. I sold an item a few days ago that has been on for over a year, no sales in a year, then someone buys one then a few MINUTES later someone else, in another country buys one as well.
Also, when people buy an item around a particular theme or brand, you'll get a little mini flurry where the next few sales you have will be based around a similar theme or brand.
I think for definite those who are impacted most are those who sell new products available from many places with competition. I have noticed when searching for items in general on Google that Ebay often does not feature on page 1 for organic search results, shocking!
The websites that feature more prominently in the search results are those that many people report having no issues with sales on...
When you change content on a website, Google re-crawls it and assesses it and will then re-rank it, the fact Ebay has gone down to Page 2 or 3 in some instances for searches I have performed organically suggests an update may have occurred that Google does not like.
Google will rank a page based on many factors including text based content, images, page speed, the time a user spends on that page, how well a user converts into a sale on that page and more. Perhaps the changes Ebay is making have resulted in worsening time on page, conversion etc. causing it to drop in the rankings. Could be the number of ads, promoted listings flooding a page etc. causing users to bounce and shop elsewhere, just one of many hundreds of possibilities but just my own opinion of the situation.

Yes mine have been cronic this month hardly had any sales at all since mid August - searching for something today, bearing in mind I sell second hand items, this is what I found on one persons PRIVATE listing just one of many on her site 595 sold of this item - what chance do we have against this!

Ebay for me is dead, been quiet for a couple of months, but now i'm either being ghosted or ebay is in serious trouble because other sellers also seem to be quiet looking at sold items.

I'm at a loss as to what else to do, sales down 34%, all the traffic tab is in red, every item is promoted, I have coupons running, postage discounts, and a 25% off sale running and nothing happens. Yet it feels that there is some manipulation of the figures over night, when I look at the traffic for the day before; it's all in green, when it clearly was never going to get there. There has got to be some glitch or ebay has changed something that has affected the traffic and therefore the sales since the beginning of the month. They are obssessed with getting the free money from all the promoted campaigns they keep messaging me about, how is it possible to pay for all these things when they stifle your traffic and sales to the point you struggle to make enough to pay the box standard shop fees they charge as it is.

Absolutely dire, worse month yet never known it this bad. Same here all traffic down and showing in red across the board, I am trailling removing the promotions slowtime on a daily basis going though each listing which probably is not helping the situation so I can see if it impacts traffic, figures, clicks, page views etc have noticed external views have increased slightly since I started doing this for whatever reason? Stopping the promotions does not seem to affect page views as they were quite low anyway, some have even increased slightly. Sales were down with promotions on all listings so didn't think I had anything to lose giving it a try plus saving a few quid of fees, is it really worth promoting anymore as there is so much spamming across listings, the new shop promotions appearing in small boxes top of screen they are going to run out of space, does anyone even take notice? Find it a distrations? Or do you think it puts buyers off?

From an economi point of view people are skint after the summer hols, budget is coming in october and god knows what that will bring, christmas is on its way so people are probably holding off at the moment and thats why there is such a lull however we are still well down selling on ebay compared to other years. But I do think the money isnt around at the moment either and such uncertainty about the state of the UK.

You cannot keep blaming the economy etc, when was the economy in the UK strong?
There are lots of people with money to spend.
17-09-2024 10:49 AM
Definitely not the economy other platforms i sell on have consistsnt sales yes they have dropped slightly but they are consistent and predictable as with ebay they are not, something is not right with the platform.
Sellers are getting milked for promotions left right and centre yet they have no effect on bringing in sales for the sellers for some apparent reason.
17-09-2024 10:56 AM
You and many people look for an outside entity to blame for lack of sales.....ok so lets say hypothetically that every man and his dog are bone skint......................What ya going to do about it ?
17-09-2024 11:04 AM
I'm not sure why you replied with this given you said other platforms were booming and the fact you started this actual thread?
Is what your suggesting only applying to eBay e.g. people don't have money to spend on eBay but for some reason spend it fine on other platforms which are booming?
17-09-2024 11:14 AM
If the economy was so dire and you were selling cars, large TV's, grand piano's you might have a point, but you sell stickers, people's finances would have to be in a state of disaster not to be able to afford a sticker, espacially as they had the money to purchase the item the sticker is being stuck on......

I would be very careful about asking for that sort of advice on here, I tried it once a dozens of smart A**** came back and told me what I was doing wrong, strange how for the past ten years it was working fine and giving me a decent living until about a year ago , hope your luck picks up, mine hasn't.
18-09-2024 7:34 PM
I have had no sales for the last 10 days.
19-09-2024 8:30 AM
It's not about the fact 'we only' sell stickers I believe it's because there is less traffic/people using eBay therefore they do not get to view or see our listings. Less traffic using eBay = less sales. People are using temu and the like these days
19-09-2024 8:50 AM
Unfortunately you are in a very competative market and even more so now there are no fees for listing clothes.
typo_lee we nor any of our friends use the likes of the other site you mention. IF i do not buy from Ebay its either a bricks and mortar shop or online from a manufacturers official site.
Saying that i had a very bad experience recently buying from a very well known sports shop on a retail park. It was boxers 3 pairs for £42 so not cheap. The store was absolutely filthy and the boxes of underwear were covered in a thick black heavy dust. The white expensive socks one would have had to wash them before wear and i could defo not give them as a present. Real shops wonder why so many people buy online ...........

Replying to my own post, something again has been changed.
Monday - 46 orders sent out, 16 international
Today - 30 orders sent out, 1 international
Thats a huge disparity in a short space of time and if my international orders had been the same as 3 days ago, my total orders would be on trend. This is nothing to do with anything other than Ebay, other platforms fine as usual, nothing to do with exchange rates etc. There are some sort of algorithmic changes that are causing these issues and unreliability on the platform.
Every day is a bit finger in the wind isn't it.
