For me it's as simple as listing more, if I have a good few days listing new stock or restocks it seems to give me an algorithm boost and I start shifting stuff I haven't sold for months.
It's great once you've built up a bit of momentum, what I find difficult at times is keeping that momentum going.

Try selling rarer items.
Having to compete with a hundred other sellers for similar item is a dead end.
