Re: £21 million

They wont improve. When companies are big enough, fines like this are just incorporated into the costs of doing business. Like bribes in certain parts of the world.  They wont notice £21m as they'll just hike the price of stamps to cover it

A better way to punish them is give them solid deadlines for each service and if they fail the customer can just log onto a website input the details and get a full refund. Whilst I'm happy the treasury gets and extra £20m to spend every customer who paid for a service and didnt get it will see very little of that £20m.

Re: £21 million

That is the third time in a row - doubling up the fine if comapered to the last year's. Based on the metrics and quality of their service here there is no surprise at all.

Re: £21 million

Pity eBay's targets for RM delivery don't align with RM targets, let alone actual performance.

Re: £21 million

And eBay will continue to provide unrealistic EDDs for OUR customers and continue to tell us it's working as intended.

I feel certain the working as intended team will surely see the light and
finally update listings

Re: £21 million

They shouldn't be allowed to increase prices if they fail to meet their delivery targets.

What a shocker....or not. If only we could get them to use that money to cover the missing parcels....

Re: £21 million

I highly doubt there’s going to be a massive queue waiting to tender for the universal service Royal Mail have to offer.

Royal Mail would get rid of it if they could.

Re: £21 million

yes £21 m as as others have said Ebay still give unrealistic delivery times, Ofcom proved it but hey to Ebay who is Ofcom

its a farce how is it possible to send a package from China to uk for less than it costs to send same package in UK to the next town along

Re: £21 million

I would imagine that £21million is a fraction of the investment required to bring the service back up to adequate, even if the next fine doubles again I'd imagine that RM are still quids in . . . .

My local footsoldier postie says there is no sign of any investment / improvement in his "failing" DO, quite the opposite.

Re: £21 million

That's a great idea... but will never be implemented - it would likely be the end of RM.

No doubt they costed that fine to be offset by their October price hike, thus meaning they have no intention of changing anything. It's very sad, until last year Royal Mail had been the only courier still able to deliver a remotely reliable service, but I've started to have loads of issues with them this year with lost items, huge delays, deliveries to wrong address... If only the government would get a handle on the postal industry and demand better, because it's another nightmare small businesses don't need these days.

Re: £21 million

The problem is with fining  RM is that we all have to pay for it.

Look out for more erroneous surcharges .

I bet those figures are not correct ,I believe its alot worse.

The amount of messages I get of "wheres my item?"....HAS GONE BEYOND ANNOYING !!!!
