i have a question to put to the forum

in light of clubs refusing requests for autographs, does anyone think that in posting successes on forums like this one (which is directly ebays) is being mis interpreted by others as actually being sold on ebay, 4 example by word of mouth or by a member on a forum that is directly linked to a player - because lets face it we have no idea who actually is behind the ids of most members on here,

the phrase "put on ebay" can easily turn into "selling on ebay"

i have been accused of being a seller before simply for posting ip successes on my own forum.

it will be interesting to hear what others think.....

i have a question to put to the forum

Im not sure i understand the question 100%.

I sell on ebay but very rarely autographs unless i have asked the player if they mind for charity but my TTM results are for me,but firstly i am a programme collector and i do sell my doubles on ebay or if i happen to pick up some rare programmes at other auctions or bootsales.

I have been accused of being a dealer but im not im just a collector.

I'm sure non of the regulars on ere sell their TM results on E-bay or anywhere else apart from the one's who do ask for graphs for charities that they are involved with...As for the one's that are members but don't contribute..around 2,200 of them, Who knows.

i have a question to put to the forum

A couple of the old forum members used to sell regularly, but the current regulars do not.

I don't think Perry meant this though. I think he was possibly referring to people misinterpreting success posts on this forum as being associated with eBay and therefore sales by default. Cannot see it myself, but what I can see is after a good success is reported the signer(s) getting flooded with requests.

i have a question to put to the forum

I don't think what we put on the forum will make much difference as the majority on here are collectors.
Any successes via private addresses aren't freely available to everyone, and the amount of mail the likes of Chelsea,Manchester United and Liverpool receive, wouldn't change greatly by our TTMs.Some individuals may get an increase in mail for a week or two from our successes, but I think a lot of the refusals are down to the time clubs must have to spend sorting out mail which isn't productive for them,or having loads of mail hanging around if players don't sign it.

i have a question to put to the forum

We dont sell our autographs and most of ours are personalised to Jess to be honest there's only Patrick that would probably want them...ha ha mention ebay anywhere and it's like the worst of the worst thing to have uttered anyway.
But we still have more or less the same number of posters as before and again all those members who do read posts as Nigel said and perhaps do just look at success stories then send requests off and use and abuse us...well not us personally because no one would be interested in Opry but you know what I mean

Nashville here we come !

i have a question to put to the forum

Very good question,as a new member to the forum well six months now so almost an old hand hahahaha,I dont think the forum has added to the decisions of the clubs, more ebay itself as its given people an outlet to sell graphs if they wish before except for selling them locally or to your mates there was no where really for the average man on the street to sell, now this whole new world has opened up the big clubs have seen this and being a business are starting to sell graphs in their shops so why would they want  to give them out for free.
The only time i have thought this forum might be at fault if im honest and nothing against the people who have posted their results is when they are saying and showing sometimes up to 8 different items they have got signed from the same person. If you are one of the lurkers or dealers checking this forum out, you would be getting your multi requests off waiting for your money to come in.

i have a question to put to the forum

Its a catch 22,people want to say what theyve obtained for their collection, that in turn tells the lurkers who is signing, clearly as this forum is a ttm forum that problem will continue as long as the lurkers are allowed to remain, this thread had had nearly 80 views already but Im only the 8th person to comment, clearly its being read by lurkers to see what it contains,as are all the threads.
The problem for clubs is differentiating between genuine fans and sellers and in the end its the usual thing-collectors suffer,I dont think posting on here is actually a problem with clubs individuals etc thinking that means they are going to be sold but it does alert lurkers ,who do ruin the hobby.
