A pound well spent Nigel, Like the Hopkins graph, I'd have snapped them up too at those prices.

I took two bags of books to a charity shop today. I was not aiming to buy anything, but while looking longingly at the biographies, spotted the Eric Sykes bio and could not resist having a peek as it is one I want. The only book I looked at today, and it was signed. 🙂 More than happy to add it to my collection for just £1. Eric is one of my three favourite comic writers along with Barry Cryer and Bob Monkhouse, so chuffed to get this.

Unbelievable, Nigel. You look at one book and it's signed and what a sig to have. I looked in four charity shops yesterday and didn't find a thing. I agree, Eric is a brilliant writer and that book is really entertaining.

This man can sniff them out at 50 paces...Nice that Nigel.
Did manage to find one today...when I get a minute I'll add it here,
if you visit the same charity shops on a regular basis you do remember wht books were there the last time you visited. so you don't need to check them all.

Picked this up for a £1 today...Local lad, Lancashire and England's former Cricket Captain Michael Atherton, signed first edition of his autobiography "Opening up" from a local charity shop. Found another book signed by him last year.

Nice one Alex, a good one to get for £1. He is quite a popular lad from the world of cricket.

Had a mini mooch in a Keach Hospice shop yesterday as they had an anything for 25p table, and was thrilled to find a signed hardback (excellent shape for 31 years old) of a book I found a signed paperback of 6 years ago in a charity shop. Have since had a ttm from her as well. Lovely lady and actress. Not really supposed to be buying anything at the moment, but if I come across people I like for these prices, bring it on. 🙂

Cracking find, Nigel. At that price you can't leave them. Well done to you too, Alex. I often see Hannah's books but never signed.

Found this in the same shop I found the Mike Atherton signed autobiography a couple of weeks ago and cost another £1.....Another local lad and another Ex Lancashire and England Cricketer..Left handed batsman but right arm bowler Ian Austin signed autobiography "Bully for you Oscar" The life and times of a Lancashire cricket Legend...hardbacked first edition..
With a waistline somewhere between Billy Bunter and Friar Tuck, Austin was an unlikely sporting figure. His approach to the wicket wasn't exactly threatening either - he trundled in with short, rhythmic strides - but he was accurate and could move the ball off the seam. Former Lancashire team-mate Wasim Akram once said that Austin's blockhole delivery - which denies the batsmen any room at the end of a one-day innings - was one of the best of its kind in the world. Austin batted left-handed, and liked to thump the ball back over the bowler's head and cover-drive with minimal foot movement. England picked him for their one-day side in 1998, and although he struggled that winter in Sharjah, many believed he would be England's trump card in the 1999 World Cup, when, aged 32, he took the new ball in the opening game of the competition at Lord's. It didn't work out, and Austin returned to his native Lancashire for good. He retired at the end of the 2003.

Fascinating charity shop pickup yesterday for £5. Really pleased with this signed book which must be hard to find in the UK. Ted is quite a character. A rock legend, and well known advocate of hunting. Nice stick man hunter as well as signature.
See here for an article about his modern attitude to autograp seekers - http://bolesblues.com/2010/11/22/ted-nugent-refuses-to-sign-autographs/

Awsome find Nigel..Must be pleased with that find...a £5 note well spent.

I think the stick man is a reference to Fred Bear, a friend of Ted immortalized in the song "Fred Bear" from the album Spirit of the Wild. Fred was an American bow hunter, bow manufacturer, author, and television host who passed away in 1988.
