Two books to report - one I am not sure about but if good will be a gift for a forum member, the second a nice one for my collection. Saw lots of half price signed books in Waterstones branches, but nothing I really wanted for my collection or useful for selling on.
The first book is one I picked up without knowing the signature (if it is a real signature). It is a book about Northern Ireland's greatest footballers, and has a dedicated signature on the title page. When I saw it in the shop I thought it might be Sammy McIlroy, but it looks to rough and wild to be his.
The name it is dedicated to matches one of our forum regulars, so if the sig turns out to be football related I will be passing the book on to them. Hopefully someone will recognise it.
The second book is a nice one for my collection, and a good buy at £1.99. Fourth different cheapo signed book I have found for this chap, but someone I admire. They also have one of the great signatures.
Mind Over Matter HB 1/1 1993 by Ranulph Fiennes

Another two great finds Nigel I've seen a lot of Ranulph Fiennes books in charity shops but I've yet to find a signed one , sorry I can't help with the other autograph but I agree with Rob it's not Sammy McIlroy

Alex, it was published in 2005 and covers Northern Ireland's greatest heroes.
I cannot find an example to match, but could it be Sammy McCrory who scored against England in a 3-2 win in 1957 (his only full cap as well), and was a non playing squad member in the 58 world cup, plus a prolific cub goal scorer for Swansea, Ipswich, Plymouth, Southend and Cambridge Utd? He sadly passed away in 2011.
My gut says no as it looks a more modern signature. The gents of the game tended to have nicer signatures.

Cheers Nigel, I also came across that name but as he played for Plymouth I'm sure Rob being a huge Plymouth fan might have said him Also came across; Stephen McBride, Sammy McMillan,
Sammy Morgan, Steve Morrow, Sammy Nelson, Stephen Beatty,

#7 & 8 Don't think it's any of the players mentioned,I agree it looks like a modern autograph rather than a 1950's player.I never got Sammy McCrory's autograph but I would guess it would be neat like most players of that era.
