Found a couple of signed book in the Blackburn store yesterday afternoon.
First one is a hardbacked first edition copy from 2012 of "The Nightmare" by Lars Kepler...Lars Kepler is the Pseudonym for a Literary couple who live and write in Sweden...one for the "Alex" Collection 😄
Who is Lars Kepler?
Alexander and Alexandra Ahndoril, both established writers with several published books, teamed up professionally for the first time to write The Hypnotist. The pseudonym Lars Kepler allowed them to separate their earlier, independent work, from this new common authorship, and they even submitted the manuscript anonymously. Five days later, publisher Albert Bonniers knew they had a nail-biting best seller in the vein of Stieg Larsson's novels.
Still, the Ahndorils did not want to reveal their true identity. With successful separate careers, and a well-functioning life together with their three children, they felt no need to come clean. As expected, the media launched a huge investigation, and it wasn’t long before one of Sweden's largest tabloids paid a visit to their summer home, urging them to confess that they had written one of the most widely read European books of 2010.
The second book is a slipped case special gift edition titled "One Day" By David Nicholls again hardbacked first edition from 2009. there were 6 of these on the shelf with one removed from it's shrink wrapped wrapper for show, This is the one that was signed. nowhere on the packaging does it say they are signed editions...I cheekilylopened the next book to find NO autograph in the book..so took the first opened one to the till When I got there the assistant , A girl called Sam said there was no Bar code on the book, was on the wrapper, and she'd exchange it for a wrapped one, I told her I'd be happy to keep hpld the opened copy just ring the unwrapped one through the till which she did....She asked why I wanted the copy that had been opened...I said " If I tell you then I'll have to Kill you" HaHaHa....was the reply...I opened the copy to show her the signature by the author....and the book went throught the till at £ 2.99 not £5.99...4 more unopened slipped cased editions still on the shelf..Are the signed or not? for £2.99 should I buy the lot? Good buy this one.
2 brand new signed books for less than £7.....

Brilliant stuff Alex. Love it! Two great finds in The Works. The Lars Keplar book was well received if I rememebr right.
It's funny, when the David Nicholls gift editions first arrived in our Works I got them to open one but it was not signed. I bought it anyway as £2.99 was nice for a slipcased edition. I sent mine as a ttm to David and had a nice response. It is a great book and was made into a film starring Anne Hathaway. I should point out though, this gift edition is a reprint (2,1 - 2nd printing, 1st edition), and not a true 1st, but is well worth having signed as it is a lovely set and a top book.

Great purchases Alex. The Woks sounds like the place to go. I'll have to go to one when I'm back in God's Country in June.
