I wrote to Peter Bonetti ex Chelsea goalkeeper via Chelsea FC back in November last year. Today I received my programmes back and a note on the bottom of my letter stating:
"Mr Bonetti is very unwell and unable to sign his name. Apologies"
Very sad news indeed about another footballing great.

Very sad news indeed..Peter Bonetti one of the boys from '66.
I did hear a whisper that Gordon Banks and Nobby Stiles are also poorly and won't be doing much more signing.
I do hope the FA do something to mark the 50th Anniversary of that World cup win in July

That's very sad news. He's always been very good with signing over the years.

Really sorry to hear this Stuart. I remember the meal at the EPS signing weekend in Preston, on which I was privileged to be placed at the same table as Peter. He was full of great stories and signed cards for my Chelsea supporter friend without question.
We all expect these guys to be around forever, but they are getting on now. I mean i never expected to be visiting Albert Scanlon at his home, and then the next in hospital. The last thing i expected was a phone call from his wife at 11pm telling me he had passed.
Then there is David Herd, one minute several visits and very enjoyable chats, the next he is in a nursing home, i miss my visits to David, Albert and also Jack, i was always welcomed into there homes and had some good laughs. But we all have to go at some point unfortunately. Lets be thankful for all the replies we have all had, and wish Peter well. 🙂
