No Alan, not bought from an online auction venue. Pre-ordered it back in June.
I saw milly's last big sale. Sadly I already have those signed EE cards, but he has some other cool stuff that is well worth taking a gander at.

No problems hijacking the thread, it is a rare pleasure to see any kind of discussion on a thread.
I had hoped they would not do one of these slipcased editions as I knew it would make me sorely tempted.
I have signed normal and slipcased editions of his bio My Word Is My Bond, now the limited signed edition of his new book, plus I have a vintage signed Saint promo pic. Do I go for the slipcased edition as well for full on greed? 🙂
Maybe not the greatest actor the world has ever seen, but for people of our generation, he is such an iconic figure who represents coolness. All his key roles were such cool characters. Even in his later years he still looks so damn suave and cool.

to be honest,i didnt like his bond films that much, there was always too much of a comical aspect to them, but as a bond actor,i would put him 2nd behind connery
21-09-2012 3:30 PM
I agree he is not the best Bond, but I would say it was after The Spy Who Loved Me his Bond films started getting worse. Connery will always be the greatest Bond.
Roger is more (no pun intended) than just Bond, and the coolness I was referring to is due to the great roles he has had, as well as his own poise and charm. Even before The Saint he had key roles in Ivanhoe, The Alaskans and Maverick (with James Garner). Then the Saint, and his stardom was confirmed. Only a couple of years later you get The Persuaders with Tony Curtis, and then the Bond films. Also, throughout the 70s and up to 1980's Sea Wolves he made some pretty good action flicks. From Moonraker onwards, pretty much most of his work was comedy related.

#8 Thanks for the info Alan
#11 Go for it Nigel you need it for your collection and if you don't you will only regret it later .
For me the only James Bond was Sean Connery no other Bond comes close .

cracker that nigel great buy

That's a fantastic item, Nigel and you know you want to go for the other edition. You'll only regret it if you don't.
Roger may not be the best actor around but I just love his self deprecating humour. And nobody else can raise an eyebrow like Sir Roger.

Great item to have nigel well done.

Excellent purchase Nigel, i really like that. Thank you Alan for the heads up on the slipcase edition. I have just pre-ordered a copy 🙂 Look forward to its arrival now. I mean at £35 and free p&p and looking at what others are charging i think its a bargain for an edition signed piece.
