#2 & #10 - It may be that Alan favours charity/fund raising requests over normal requests for autographs. When the eBay boom hit and some signers started getting edgy about seeing their stuff on ebay, it became common for some to limit signing stuff for charity/fund raising only.
That is why it is important that success posts on forums like this distinguish between normal successes and charity/fundraising successes. They are two very different types of autograph request.
Don Gilet who played Lucas in EE was an interesting example. For about a year or so after joining the cast, the only autographs that surfaced from him were for charities fund raising, then he started signing for fans in general much later. #2 - It's possible Alan may prioritise his signings like this as I have seen normal replies from him in the past.
