Sci Fi By The Sea

We had a family day out in Herne Bay yesterday at Sci Fi By The Sea.  It was a great show with loads going on for the kids and 7000 attendees.  There about a dozen or so guests there but I felt the autographs prices were a bit high, most guests were charging £15, with Eve Myles charging £30 and all except Paul Blake had buckets on their desk asking for a donation to take a posed photo (Paul Blake was charging £10 so as I have met him before that was an easy pass for me).  Due to the prices I only met three people but to be honest honest were there more for a family day out that to collect autographs so I was happy with that.

The location was great and it was nice to be outside rather than the usual crammed convention hall, although it obviously wouldn't have been as nice it it had rained.  It was right near the sea front as well so was able to go and have fish and chips and  a walk along the pier afterwards

First up I met Miltos Yerolemou who signed for me TTM a couple of months ago.  At the time he emailed me asking if I could send the photo electronically and it was nice to see he was using it as one of his table photos.  As soon as I introduced myself he cottoned on that it was me and couldn't thank me enough, pointing out the his helper the photo I sent him.  My Daughter was well impressed that he knew who I was, lol.  Anyway I added him to a multi project and got a photo with him:

Next was Paul Blake who commented how much he liked the photo I brought with me and explained how the background was a painting rather than a lifesize prop and that it had a hole in it so that when anybody walked up the ramp they would just fall through the whole in the painting.  He was also telling us how nice Kay Freeborn was and what a pleasure it was to work with her.

Lastly, I got Eve Myles for a friend.  I had taken a photo for me to get signed but when my wife saw how much she was charging the look on her face made me realise it was probably best to give it a miss, lol.  She was lovely, taking the time to shake of our hands and talk to the kids.  There was a lot of banter gong on with her and Kai Owen, who was sitting next to her

and here are some of our other photos from the event:

Sorry to have missed you, Greg. It was a fun day and it looks like you and your family had a great time. Love the photos you took.

I agree about the prices for the autographs especially Eve Myles. It was £15-£20 on the web site but went up when she arrived. I was in two minds about getting my photos signed but, I thought I wouldn't get another opportunity.

Suzanne - If I hadn't have met her before I would have paid it but as I have her on a few photos already I just couldn't justify it

Looks like a really good day and even if you didn't get her to sign that's a lovely photo with Eve.
