Went to the lunchtime Canary Wharf signing today. Not the best in person experience, but at least I got his new book signed in person.
Strictest security I have experienced at a book signing for a long time. I had zero chance of adding his sig to my Spurs Player By Player book which was a shame. They made it quite clear no additional items of any kind would be signed - many times!
I was in the queue with the same guy who queued with me for Denis Law a couple of weeks ago, so we were having a good chat. About 30 minutes before the signing was due to start we were comparing Spurs sigs - his signed shirt and my signed book. The result was a flurry of panic from Waterstones staff who spotted us with items other than the books, and they rushed over to tell us to put the items away, and reminded us only the new book would be signed. Come the moment when he arrived and we went to get our books signed, first they checked only the new book was in our hands, then they even took our bags to one side, so there was no chance of slipping another item under Gazza's nose. We were whisked through so fast there was no chance to speak to him, but I did manage to get one pic of him signing my book.

Shame you could not get any thing other than the book signed, but he has signed his full name and not just Gazza. well done.

I sometimes wonder if it's really worth doing these book signings when it makes the punters so uncomfortable. 😞 Still it's a fantastic signed book to have in any collecton.

Stunning book signing mate, well done:)
It was the same at Bobby Charlton's book signing. They even said that if we approached with anything other than a book it woulod be confiscated. One little old dear in front of me said " You are so arrogant and not very nice " To one of the security guys and the Que cheered her ha h aha:)

another great one to add to your collection mate, apparently it was the same at sportsmania this year and you pay for the autographes,it was decided on the day that he wouldnt sign any shirts there was some very unhappy people about so my brother in law said!!!!,to be honest cant see what the problem is if your buying his new book why he cant sign an extra one

I went to his book signing when his first book came out, security were really strict there as well and kept saying "no additional items", I sneakily managed to get him in my Rangers autograph book and my Dad got him on an index card, security were far from happy and would probably have thrown us out if we hadnt quickly left! Thats a great sig you got on your book, well done!
