Ossie to Aussie

I was really pleased to get this reply. Oswald "Ossie" Morris OBE DFC AFC BSC is best known for his work as a Cinematographer. He has worked with legendary directors on films such as Moby Dick, Heaven Knows Mr. Allison, The Guns of Naverone, Lolita and Oliver! (to name but a few). He won an Oscar for his great cinematography in Fiddler on the Roof. He came out of retirement to work on The Great Muppet Caper and The Dark Crystal (there's the Henson link). He published his autobiography "Huston, We Have a Problem" a few years ago. It is a fantastic read going through his early life and time as a RAF bomber pilot in WW2 (he won the DFC & AFC) and his extensive work in film. I wanted to send the book, but it is quite heavy and as Ossie is 98, I didn't want to hassle him too much (someone who knows Ossie was kind enough to ask him if it was OK for me to send the letter). Ossie is a true great of British cinema and is very humble about his achievements. He signed my cards, bookplate and replied to my letter (old school typed). One of the best replies I've had. That's a very special reply, Rob. His credits read as a list of some of the best films ever made and with his war record as well, he's quite a man. I'll have to look out for his book.
