I doubt very much if any of you have heard of this band, but this is a bit special for me. I used to see them live in the late 80s, and used to have an autographed record I got signed at a gig by the final lineup. That got sold in the 2007 house move for £50. Never expected to find a signed record by them in a charity shop, especially their debut 1986 lp with the original lineup. The r&b circuit had some big followings and this lot got big quite quickly, but Dot did not stay too long, and James aka Wilf was always destined to go off and do his own thing.
Cry Wilf by Howlin' Wilf & The Veejays - £4.99
Wilf is actually James Hunter who records under his own name and plays with the likes of Van Morrison, and was nominated for a Grammy in 2006.
Here's a youtube link for them live in 1987 -
