Mixed fortunes to start the week.

Sometimes you just have to laugh. I sent  two small pictures to Melissa Gilbert in the USA on 17th March 2009, so exactly 3 weeks shy of 5 years later I was excited to see my old reply envelope. Sadly, the pics were unsigned, and I had been sent the dreaded preprint pic with fansite details. This is now my longest wait for a failure.

I visited the fansite, and they actually have the nerve to state -

"Visit the Star Addresses page to see where you can write to FanSource celebrities for autographed photos and be guaranteed a response".

I have emailed them about this - curious to see what smelly reply comes my way (if any). I queried their definition of an autograph versus a facsimile.

On the plus side, today's post also included a very quick reply, also from the USA.

William Peter Blatty - 13 days

Famous writer and filmmaker. He turned 86 in January. Responsible for one of the all time great cinematic experiences. I was thrilled to get the 8.5x11.5 photo and 8x5 record card I sent back signed. This was the first from a small batch I have sent to the USA recently. I have decided to be a little bolder with some of my requests this year, and stray from my usual collecting grounds.

a real shame on the preprint, will be interesting to see if you get a reply from your email.  A great success from William Peter Blatty though and nice and quick too

Thats a cracking reply to your Exorcist photo. Just a shame about the other one though. Hopefully you get some sort of responce.

shame about the pp sucks to wait so long to not get an authentic reply, but well done with William brilliant choice of photo and he's a nice sig to go with it too, congrats

Shame about a 5 year wait for a PP,but at least the other was good.

nice success with the exorcist mate,unlucky with the other,think my longest pre print reply was christopher lee at 4 years,and also not recieving my vhs cover back  in the bargain also

The Exorcist sig more than makes up for the pp, Nigel. It's hard to understand why it took so long to come back though.
