Manchester United Club Cards

Hi Everyone not really had any replies for sometime but really got the bug and have sent some out and I am awaiting in hope.

Got the bug back after sorting my collection out and amazing what you find that you have.

Which brings me to this topic.

I have other the years been lucky to get a few replies from Man Utd and there Club cards , what is the rarest one ?

I can post some pictures of some if anyone interested.

I do have a Roy Keane which I am guessing is quite rare ?

Look forward to your replies.

Cheers Wayne

i've found the less popular players rare ones who weren't there long so may have 1/2 CC's then theres the likes of Busby and Charlton who had them which most reach £90+ when they occasionally come up, then theres the ones who don't reply at all like kagawa and de gea and then Rooney's who are stamped each season, treble season ones are very rare because every single one got stamped there are the occasional ones which are authentic which im guessing are blank ones that people have got signed couple of the early fergie ones also are rare ones because they used to come stamped, then theres the early cards when people changed how they signed for example the neville brothers the ones with their full old signature fetch alot compared to the newer ones they sign now, one that sticks out to me is Berbatov from 07-09 theres 2 versions of the CC with some slight differences if you have the alternate there isnt many about of those Smiley Happy

Re: Manchester United Club Cards

There's no real set value for the Club Cards really. One day your Roy Keane card could top £25, on another day, you'll fetch less than a tenner. It just depends on who spots it and how much they're prepared to bid.

As far as rare one's go, as mentioned Sir Matt Busby/Sir Bobby Charlton is the high end of the club card market value-wise. Also up there is Wayne Rooney due to him stamping few he does send out, so handsigned/undedicated one's are pretty rare and usually fetch between £75-£100. Eric Cantona handsigned cards are very rare too, as again, he stamped the virtually all of the relative few he sent out. The last handsigned one on eBay sold for over £100. Sir Alex Ferguson since he retired, club cards more or less sold for £10-£20, post-retirement you're looking at £30-£50, infact the latest Fergie club card i seen on eBay sold for £55! And his will increase in value as times goes by. Ronaldo, with his popularity, always sells around the £40ish mark though his very first club card from his first season usually fetches £50-£60+.

There's also the inconspicuous players that can hold a decent value. Players who rarely, if ever, played for the 1st team but who had a club card generally sell for a fair amount or players who only sent or (currently) only send out a few cards a season.

There are also cards which you'll see appear that you've never even seen before. I managed to add the coach Rene Mulensteen from 2 seasons ago. Didn't even know he had a club card but that the fun of club card collecting. There's always something new and exciting crops up every now and again. And, as with all types of collecting, when you manage to complete a particular set it's a joy. In 2008 after United won the European Cup, i set out to collect the entire team on the night plus subs. Took me about 3 years to locate and add them all but it was worth it in the end.

Re: Manchester United Club Cards

Before the financial crash in 2008, were any of the cards going for even higher amounts? I know the signed EE card market was crazy back then, and sales fo £100 to £150 for rare cards were common. Since the crash, prices have dropped considerably. I have picked up cards I sold for £100 plus for 10% of the value I sold them for.

Re: Manchester United Club Cards

I don't think so Nige. I find they tend to fluctuate in price. Certainly over the last 6 months i've seen the prices going pretty wild and there seems to be an expanding asian market for the cards too which pushes prices up further. I don't do it very often but if i sell a duplicate on Ebay it almost always goes to China/Thailand. I would say with the amount of people who ttm United nowadays with the pure intention of selling what they receive on eBay, it does keep the prices of the more recent cards relatively low since the market becomes flooded with them. As with any collectors item, anything post-eBay era does tend to be the more collectable/desirable items to have as i'm sure you found the the EE cards too.

Re: Manchester United Club Cards

i agree Col i think the prices have gone wild at the minute,  what i  consider a bog standard card that was worth only a couple to a few pounds say 12 month ago are now trebling and even quadrupling in price, the prices have gone mad and its getting harder and harder to find a bargain, you also find alot of sellers end there auctions early because they get a mad offer from buyers....ive been bidding on items in the past as i know you hav Col only to find one day the item has ended early, thats a pain and really annoys 😞
