added a signed first edition copy of his latest novel "Deadly Finish"
I sent one of John's Novel's to him titled "Dead Weight" on the 6th of December via the Channel 4 racing programme that he presents on. Today the book has been returned signed and dedicated to myself and John Francome has added a signed and dedicated first edition copy of his latest novel "Deadly Finish" John has stuck my return addressed envelope onto a larger one that would fit both books in and posted them back....No extra postage to pay as the packet hasn't been franked...another 7 first class stamps to recycle in the new year...Top Bloke. I also wished him a happy birthday as it was his 58th Birthday on the 13th of this month. John Francome MBE (13 December 1952) is a former National Hunt Champion Jockey. Born in Swindon the son of a railway fireman, his family had no connection with the horse racing world. At sixteen years old he became apprentice to Lambourn trainer Fred Winter and so began his career as a jockey. He rode a total of 1,038 winners, his last being in April 1985. During the course of his career he was NH Champion Jockey seven times. After retiring Francome was awarded the MBE in 1986 for services to racing. He was a trainer for 18 months before becoming a TV presenter for Channel 4's horse racing broadcasts. Like another former jockey, Dick Francis, Francome has taken to writing works of fiction. His books have featured on the bestseller lists. Nice man, Thanks for the christmas pressie, Cheers Mr, John Francome MBE.
