So, I went to Em-Con on Saturday which was my first such event. I've not got huge funds to spend at the moment so I focused on the Buffy guests which was why I bought my ticket in the first place. I guess if you go with more cash and meet more people it makes a better day of it but I was surprised how little else was going on, I expected a bit more really, but I still enjoyd it and Emma Caulfield and Nicholas Brendon were great.
It was interesting how they had very different relationships with the show and with conventions. Emma clearly enjoyed doing Buffy but it is in the past and something she doesn't dwell upion, whereas Nicholas clearly really struggles with it all, maybe because he hasn't gone on to other things the way Emma has. The panel was a bit strange, not helped by the compere who called him Brandon at one point, but he said how hurt he was to not be included in the 20th anniversary photoshoot. It was quite emotional and sad to see him so down about it all, as well as odd that he wasn't included.
Anyway I did a photoshoot with each of them and they were both great and I also got Emma's autograph, she really is lovely although I'm told that on Sunday she looked like she was getting a bit bored with the whole thing. I didn't have cash for an NB one too sadly. A good day, I would definitely go back if there were guests I really wanted to meet, some more Buffy would be good!
