Another recent purchase. Davros was the leader of Felix Mendelssohn & His Hawaiian Seranaders, a band from the 1940's. The inerest in Hawaiian music created by the likes of the great Sol Hooppii and Tao and Rose Mo inspired the formation of the band.
Although very dated by today's standards, the hula was considered very risque at one time and after a television appearance in June of 1946, the Hawaiian Seranaders were banned from appearing at the Soll Moss theaters for three months.
Sammy Mitchell the son of one of the Seranaders ( but not Davros ) became one of the greatest slide guitarists ever and was responsible for the excellent slide guiitar on Rod Stewert's Every Picture Tells A Story and Gasoline Alley.

That's a great sig. I love the names of those old bands. I really like the info about them being banned. It can be quite funny to see what was considered risque.

#10. Hi Jane,
Playing Slide guitar is great fun. Believe it or not, it is easier than playing the guitar in the normal way and although many people, myself included, play slide on a metal bodied or resophonic guitar, you can use any steel stringed instrument. The secret is in the use of "open" tunings -- or what the Hawaiian players refer to as "Slack Key".
